  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

How did you find your way to the JUB forums?

Damn. Years ago was the last time I signed in there and then it was gone. Just signed in again, my info still works, but only 3 members online. It use to have hundreds online at once. Looks like it is all about sex now though.
Yea it's still active and a few people have signed up on the site

I'd found a gay-themed blog or something with the word "boys" in the title ([-X that's the over-18 sort of "boys"!) and I was looking for it again when I stumbled on JUB. I'd never seen a message board (I'd only just discovered the interwebz) and it all looked baffling but there was an interesting thread I wanted to reply to so I worked out how to join up. Over the years I've joined several other forums devoted to hobbyhorsical subjects that interest me, solely to ask or answer one question, but JUB is the only one I've stayed with.

For the first three years or so my window on Jubworld was a Nokia C1-01 phone with a WAP connection and screen size of about 2 sq. ins. It couldn't show videos. I was like a medieval anchoress walled up in a side chapel following the mass through my little spy-hole. Then I bought a Samsung tablet, which I'm using now. Then I got a laptop, which I fiddled with and nearly smashed out of rage and frustration. I never use it. I can't even remember where I've put the wretched thing.

I wanted to learn about roosters, so I did a search for cock and ended up here. Didn't realize my horrible mistake initially until I saw some of those other subforums with disgraceful pictures of...of...I can't even type the word. I'm so appalled by it all. But I'd come to like the conversations in Hot Topics, so I decided I could stay.

I love that description.

I only learned a couple of years ago that anchorites/esses had a second window in their cells besides the one into the church, and that regular people brought them food through that window and took away their chamber pots to be emptied (and probably took away and delivered their laundry, too). That seemed to me like cheating, but at least it explained how they could live walled up in there for more than a few weeks.

And then I realized that anchoring (is that what they called it?) was yet another example of extravagantly performative piety that's possible only by making lots of extra work for other people.

I searched 'gay forums' on Google and found JUB. I was hoping to talk to other gay guys and this was the most promising site.

I joined back in 2010. I don't remember how I found it. Most likely, someone mentioned it in one of the other forums I looked at. Like maybe on Men.com or Adam-4-Adam.com

That's how I found the the first gay forum I joined (not JUB) ... But I think I used AltaVista to search instead of Google .lol. how many here remember that one? Was my preferred search back in the day...

I remember the Altavista name, although I can't remember if I actually ever used it.

Depressing thought of how many computer products and service I remember...and how long it has been since they vanished...

I remember using Altavista and not being satisfied with it. I was very lucky in that a colleague mentioned Google to me very shortly after it launched in 1998. The difference was huge.
