  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

How do you like your alcohol?

I drink beer most of the time, Alexander Keith's is the brand of choice lately.

Maker's Mark Bourbon Manhattans, Tanqueray Gin Gibsons and Martinis are my favourite cocktails.

Very good bourbon like Woodford Reserve or quality gin like Tanqueray 10 or Hendricks - neat with a couple of cubes.

Australia makes some excellent red wines but a good french Bordeaux or Burgundy is a nice treat. I don't usually drink white wines.

The very first cocktail I ever ordered in a restaurant was a "Pink Lady". They are disgusting (gin, grenadine and milk shaken with cracked ice and served with a cherry in a martini glass) but I was 17 and making a statement.

I've tried just about everything. I have a learned appreciation for [STRIKE]good[/STRIKE] excellent wine, scotch, and various brewed libations.

But, since I live in Wisconsin ... and beer, etc., makes me feel "full", and puts me to sleep too quickly, my "staple" is Brandy! ..|

I don't drink alcohol. So why the fuck am I posting here? Only the good Lord knows... *hums to himself*

Beer, occasionally. As often as not, I skip over entire one or two months at a time without a beer.

Anything else, VERY rarely. As I skip over entire months without having a beer, I as often as not skip over entire YEARS without having anything else. The "anything else" will most likely be a red wine, or rarely something hard (kahlua is probably the most appealing to me...some others are instead appalling, LOL).

I'll drink anything put in front of me.

MOST of the time, you'll see me drinking beer (usually Leinie's) or a whiskey sour.

Aha...your local product, yet! A friend in Chicago used to be a big fan of it before he quit drinking, and it is good stuff.

i like a man who appreciates a fine margarita and a well played game of scrabble. ;)

SCRABBLE? Wow that's definitely my favorite game. And it HAS always been since I was introduced to it longer ago than I even want to admit...

You can put Scrabble in front of me all you want, but don't put SCRAPPLE in front of me...lol

Now, THAT is an oxymoron if I ever saw one. Yecchh!!!!

Now, where in the hell is that M.I.A. vomit smiley?

^You realize that your heart is racing because you're mixing uppers and downers right? And it's terrible for your heart? Just looking out for you, not trying to preach. Jaeger bombs are just bad for ya. :S

Fuuuck, I love Scrabble. My partner being much older has a MUCH larger vocabulary and I absolutely CANNOT fucking beat him at it! I get SO close. The score is like 275 to 300 every time. Last time I believe I lost by a one-digit number of points. I'm too competitive, unfortunately, and get kind of butthurt at his unfair advantage.

Anyway, I like clear liquors. Dark liquors have too much stuff added to them that make me feel crappy the next day. Had a HORRID experience with Jack Daniels when I first got drunk and can't really drink whiskey. I don't like how whiskey/bourbon/scotch makes you smell really bad, either. I like wine, but prefer non-red wines. I don't drink beer to get drunk, but I enjoy just drinking a beer to drink a beer.

I'm like an old lady, I could drink gin and tonics all day.

I do have to admit that Scotch (Single Malt, of course!) is an "acquired" taste, much like coffee, or olives. Takes some "practice" to truly appreciate it. But, once you make it to the really "Good Stuff" ... WOW! ..|

Olives? Never heard of olives being an acquired taste. Everyone I've ever met has loved or hated them from the get go.
I used to hate them, but now I eat them like there's no tomorrow. Of course, it may have something to do with the fact that my parents always bought the cheap pimento-stuffed green olives, and I prefer black olives or green olives stuffed with onions or almonds.

As for alcohol, beer usually disagrees with me. I like wine, and I tend to drink whites in warm weather, reds in cooler weather. Tequila doesn't go down so well except in margaritas. I hate gin. I like vodka martinis, and I love good whiskey (bourbon, scotch, Irish, whatever, as long as it's good quality).

And I firmly believe that life is too short for cheap booze.

Speaking of which, I just challenged you to a game on FB. We'll have to do the margarita in San Antonio.

I'm with Kev on this one.

This fall, think of the damage we'll be able to do with $20 each!

What's a Leinie's on tap these days?

$5 pitchers. *drool*

Although for $6, we can get spotted cow. *double drool*

**quick calculating**

40 divided by 6 =6+ really cheap tip

I guess I won't be hitting the road the next day very early.

God, I won't make it to Sioux Falls the second day. Those U-hauls are governed with a top speed of 55 mph. :(

I don't like beer (and I've tried). I'm only able to drink wine every once in a while or I get a headache with the first sip. I like dry whites best and they're least likely to give me a headache. I love sake.

I generally order a Myer's and Coke. I prefer dark rums. Someone left me a bottle of Gosling's Black Seal rum for my birthday once and I greatly enjoyed it.

In the summer I'll usually have a margarita with salt. I like on the rocks, but I'll take a margarita any way it's presented. I also like mojitos as a summer drink, but they're rarely made correctly. I have a friend who makes them perfectly and I've been promised some over the summer.

I also like good whiskey, bourbon and vodka.

Lets see...

At a lounge/club, I'll have a mandarin tonic or long island

At a chain bar/restaurant (i.e. Friday's), the seasonal beer, Fat Tire, or Guiness.

At neighborhood bars or microbreweries, the strongest brew: barleywine, doppelbock, or some kind of Belgian import.

There's a small Italian restaurant that's open late and has $9 carafs of table wine. That's always a good time.

Karaoke bar: Johnny Walker Black, Hennessey, and lots of malt liquor

At home: whiskey, margarita with a good amount of cointreau, cabernet or mixed red, or lots and lots of sparkling wine. I usually stock up on whatever winte is on sale at the supermarket or Costco. I mostly buy mid-range reds ($7-15) and my favorite "cheap" sparkling wine, Korbel extra dry brut sparkling ($8-15, not really cheap but definitely cheaper than what my parents have).

I also love drinking those very stong beers at home. My favorites are La fin du monde, Leffe blonde, Spaten optimator, and Paulaner salvator. Surprisingly, Michelobe's Amber Bock is pretty decent for a domestic beer.
