How long does it take for you to read a book?

I haven't seen any studies on this so just asking you guys.

Why bother reading it when people can just make threads here asking if someone else has read it and what they think the meaning of the book was. Life's so much easier when you don't have to think for yourself. ;)

For me...it depends on the size of the book, my interest in the material once I begin reading, and if I have a lot of "distractions" going on around the time.

I've read some books in a few days, and others...it took me months to finish.

On average...for a 300-400 page book...about a month. I don't set aside as much time as I used to for reading.

Well the biography of Somerset Maugham has taken me more than two years and I still haven't finished it. Game of Thrones, on my Kindle, is taking ages to finish but that is due to there being 5 volumes and I don't allow myself the time to sit down and read.

In my younger days some novels would be bought and read the same day.

Depends. Helps if you know how.

depends entirely on my interest in the book (eg: am I reading it with every spare minute of the day because I can't put it down, or am I only picking it up sporadically as I summon the willpower to force myself to?)

but I'd say that on average, I tend to read a novel every 1-2 weeks (reading on the subway when commuting to/from work and for 20-30 minutes in bed before going to sleep).

I read fantasy fiction, and a good yarn is about four or five hundred pages for one out of an arc or set of books. It takes me about 3 hours to read 100 pages, so less than a day cover to cover, but I rarely do that.

What a silly question.

Obviously if it hasn't made it all the way to the Three Day DVD Rentals shelves it wasn't a good book to begin with.

I prefer Dr. Seuss.

One fish Two fish Red fish Blue fish.

Where's Waldo gives me a headache.

Wow. I think I agree, I'm not sure though. To tough to decide.

About a week, if I have just the one on the go. Typically, though, I'm reading two or three at a time.

I do a big chunk of each novel - an unbroken hour or so - Tuesday and Thursday nights, while relaxing in a hot bath after karate. Depending on the author, I can do up to 150 pages in an hour.

It depends a whole lot on the book. Some books have a lot more pages than others. Also, it depends on the subject matter. If it is a story, it can flow pretty fast, but an educational book can take a long time to read and absorb. A lot of time I will loose interest part way through and start another and get back to the first one weeks later.
