IO don't recall if it is the same elsewhere as it is here - but in Aus, by law the manufacturers must list the composition of the food products:
It usually shows the amount (per 100gms) of such things as Energy/Protein/Fat/Carbohydrate/Sugar/Sodium, etc.
Point is - if you look at a 'name' brand and a 'generic' brand - you quite often find two that are EXACTLY and COMPLETELY the same...and often the generic is only 2/3 the price.
In those instances - I buy the generic....because I know it is the same product - just with different packaging.
Also when it comes to certain things I'll automatically buy the 'no-name' brand - f'rinstance, soda water. I mean, carbonated water is carbonated water - what's the difference?...
