How many JUBBERS have pulled the plug on cable? Finally decided to return my box this week. I download the shows worth watching and am going to subscribe online to a news channel. Big sporting events are better watched in pubs and I'll probably get out more.

I have Sate-lite dish i like it better then ripoff comcast and i have Verizon dsl for the internet its a bit slower then comcast but its more reliable.

I been hearing that a lot people are getting rid of their cable and getting antenna (They get free hdtv) and Roku box to watch movies and old shows.

I have to have cable i grew up with it and its everywhere and its always there. I mainly download Game Shows from the internet and buy 5 dollar dvd's. I don't need all the sports and movie packages and stuff just the main channels and the cable channels(Tbs,Own,Hgtv,Etc) and im happy.

Never had it, so I can't miss it. There's enough broadcast here that all I really need is the antenna. And, while I was sitting waiting for my car to have an oil change, their TV was showing Real Housewives of New Jersey and watching that confirmed that I'm not missing anything.

Recently had satellite installed after being TV free for about 3 years. Out of the 100's of channels there are only two that I watch.

We had it turned on because we thought the MIL was going to end up moving in. But now that she's not, I suspect we'll keep it until the contract runs out. Otherwise we'd be stuck with a ridiculous cancellation fee.

if the cable companies would have gone along with plans to offer their channels one at a time instead of in packs, they wouldnt have to keep thinking up new services to try and hold onto their subscribers.

its ironic that the main reason for their demise now is their own stubbornness over a-la-carte programming. this is what happens when you get media consolidation, prices just continue to rise.

now in an attemt to save their dying business models, we are suffering collateral damage to all kinds of other networks from cell phones to the internet itself.

Being more or less housebound much of the time, television is often my only company during the day. And since I have limited download bandwidth, watching TV over the internet is out of the question.

Cable is the only way I can get high speed internet in my area.

I've looked at satellite, but buying TV and internet from two different companies would cost more than I'm paying to get both from cable.

I love my Fios and one of the great things when I moved in with my BF is that he has it too. Even now with sharing the burden [of utilities] with him is better. Of course I do agree there is A SHIT TON of bloat on TV that is pure garbage. I'm toying with the idea right now of getting HBO to get my favorite Game of Thrones.

Ha! I like your poll! I actually got rid of it because

A. It was to expensive

B. I could watch my stories online the next day! (Until they cancelled it...)

Getting close to cancelling it. I'm getting tired of the price. And I have a Roku2 box which essentially cancels out the need for uverse. AT&T is just charging way too much for Uverse.

Nowhere TV is a great service... and it has a ton of channels you find on cable... all for free.

Only for Roku though. Apple would never dream of having this on their inferior box thing.

It's nice watching Al Jazeera English. Something you'll rarely find on cable (if ever).

EXACTLY!!! ..|

We have UVerse at home -- and I have ROKU when I'm traveling around the country -- they're even getting BETTER showing debates and election coverage LIVE on ROKU!!! :D

I'm trying to convince my partner to JUST SAY NO to AT&T -- and join the ROKU REVOLUTION!!!

:):):)

I've never had cable & my opinion is TV should be FREE (as should radio) I don't watch a whole lot of TV anyway so I'm fine with the normal broadcast stations.

I despise TiVo never have and never will own one ... my VCR doesn't require a monthly fee, if I need to record shows...

^I found Nowhere TV a LONG time ago -- and use it ALMSOT EVERY day!!! ..|

It is AWESOME because it DOESN'T add the COMMERCIALS like a LOT of the OTHER channels do...

:):):)

I canceled my basic service last year ($13 a month). This year I wanted it back but Comcast are idiots and said they would charge a $200 fee for “breaking my contract”.

They are so greedy that they are willing to lose more money in the long run, just to make less money in the short run. Since when is adding a service breaking a contract anyways? They would just be making more monthly.

More and more I keep thinking about ditching cable tv. My cable internet I would still keep. I am sick of the over-abundance of commercials on tv. Yes, I know commercials are a fact of life. But when the time allocated to commercials has become as much as the actual programming, something is wrong. And I simply have not been watching or recording enough tv to be getting my money's worth.

Not yet. I have Comcast Digital Premier, an HD DVR and another HD box, plus broadband Internet service. I get HBO, Cinemax, Showtime and STARZ and over a dozen college sports channels. In addition, OnDemand covers all of that plus network shows and just added a new free section of movies and tv shows that's quite good.

I know I could get a lot of this online but it would still require subscriptions to the pay channels and

Dropping cable would mean they would add $20 more per month for their broadband Internet service. I also get a Norton Suite subscription for no extra charge.

I cancelled my cable subscription when I got hooked up to "the internets". Network TV or the local UHF stations will just have to do. :D

I'm getting ready to cancel my cable. They just went up again on the rates, and $200 per month for TV plus internet is just too much. I'm going to try DSL from the phone company. They are a bit slower, but is way cheaper. I can get voice and DSL from the phone company for way less than just internet from the cable company. If the DSL works out, I'm going to cancel the video service too. I may try satellite TV, and I may do without TV until fall. I don't watch much in summer anyway. I may just forget TV entirely. Can't get much here with an antenna, only 3 or 4 stations.
