Attention How many of you have switched to Windows 10?

I did, briefly, until it was eating up my battery and I had to downgrade back to Windows 7.
 
I have the GWX Control Panel installed as free software on both of my computers.

It blocks all of Microsoft's misguided attempts to force their Windows 10 malware on me.

I'm not as worried when I eventually replace a computer and the new computer ALREADY has 10 installed...entirely properly.

i bought a new desktop about 2 years ago
It had 8.1 installed on it
For about 6 months I had a flag up asking if I wanted to install 10 but I ignored it
Since then I have had to inducements to install 10
Is this persistant attempt to upgrade only a US thing?

There is nothing to stop you/us dumping Windows completely and installing Linux or some other FREE OS

Tbh Apple are no better when it comes to forcing software on you and restricting compatibility. In fact they are probably worse!

Morning. No i don't think so. I too am always getting "invites" to upgrade to 10 for free. Not a chance in hell! I have read many, many comments and articles about 10. Most of them not very supportive of Windows at all.
 
I upgraded into Windows 10, then after a day of using it, I reverted back to 8.1. (Thank God for the rollback function!)

I didn't use it long enough to detect any trouble, but the boot up in Windows 10 takes much longer than Windows 8 in my lappy, and that's enough reasons for me not to continue using it. Plus points though, after I upgrade into Windows 10 and reverted back, there were no more annoying "invitations" to upgrade.

Ignore at your own risk. I didn't dig for info before I registered for 10. So it downloaded itself in the background and kept throwing popups which I kept putting off. That worked (for awhile) then it force installed. Here's info on how to avoid being upgraded against your will.

I'm not going to have a choice. My desktop is scheduled to have all the downloads on 5/23 at 11:00 PM EDT. It did not give me a choice to refuse it.
If you don't see me on Tuesday or beyond, you'll know why...:D
 
I still don't see how this is legal. I've never had a notice. (I don't know why.) But if they do an automatic upgrade, I'm screwed. Not only can't my laptop run it, I doubt if the hard drive is big enough to hold it.
 
I never got notices, or invitations, to "upgrade" to 10. What am I? "Limp Fish?" Well ... that's beside the point. :slap:

My desktop is all of three years old. It came with 8, and I upgraded to 8.1. No biggie.

THEN, recently, it was refusing to do Windows Updates, even with MS techs in remote control. LONG Story! Physically took it in to the nearest Microslop store. #-o

It was "renewed" up to 10, and I've been running it ever since.

Truth is, I'm liking it. Don't tell anyone I just said that! [-X :lol:

Does anyone else see the irony in a company which fights malware is a master at installing it?

Makes me wonder what else they are doing behind our backs.
 
I still use Windows XP.
Will xp work for many many more years ?
 
My dad upgraded to Windows 10 on the notebook we have at his business and it gave us nothing but problems for three months. We ended up with so much malware that we kept getting video ads popping up every time we tried to order parts and even when we weren't even using it while it was on. And then it started updating a few times while we were doing work and we lost it all.
