Problem solved...for good.
Yep. it isKulindahr said:Microsoft = malware.
If I remember right Micro$oft has been putting spyware in windows as far back as Windows 98 (something called 'Alexa'), the difference being, that one was easily removed.gsdx said:Makes me wonder what else they are doing behind our backs.
Windows XP has some sorta spyware too, no antivirus/antimalware programs detect it & not sore if it can be removed. Its there though, even with what options can be disabled (including win update), it still Attempts to connect to a couple MS servers.
Windows 7 & 8 both have known spyware (apparently nearly as bad as 10 if certain updates are (automatically) applied)... even without those, there's something, both versions Attempts to connect to various MS servers. What they are trying to send I have no idea, but there is no valid reason for it to EVER be connecting to any MS server.

Note where I say Attempts above, in most anyone's case, those those "attempts" would simply be "connects". I have them blocked on the network

Oh and I've seen various posts online saying block the spyware by adding a given list of MS servers to the windows 'hosts' file ... what I guess they don't realize is that, yes doing so will block your access to those sites in any browser but windows itself ignores the 'hosts' file!
Yep, it will continue to work. Just make sure you keep your anti-virus/spy/mal-ware up to date.Telstra said:I still use Windows XP.
Will xp work for many many more years ?
Yep that is EXACTLY the type of dirty little trick malware would do.Kabluey said:[That's low. Just the kind of move a malware pop-up would do.LeicsDom said:http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-36367221
Microsoft has faced criticism for changing the pop-up box encouraging Windows users to upgrade to Windows 10.
Clicking the red cross on the right hand corner of the pop-up box now activates the upgrade instead of closing the box.
Click the close button & activate trojan-horse ... which then delivers/installs the malware(also known as Windows 10
