I'm really really really freaked out by all the "I never experience homophobia" responses. Seriously, it's hard for me to believe that so many of you never watch TV or movies or pick up a newspaper and/or read up on current events - or indeed, even, go outside. Or that so many of you have adopted such an assimilationist policy that you've convinced yourself that being gay really ISN'T as big a deal as your brand of sox, or are perhaps not aware yourselves that you are, indeed, gay. That you also put on your pants one leg at a time is the only thing you can use as a pointer to your "individuality?"
SUFFER homophobia? No, I'm the one dishing it out. I'd blame peer pressure but I don't want to sound irresponsible. My usual joke is that I'm externalising my internalised homophobia. Fewkin' poofters. So many of us bought it hook, line, and sinker - just take a lame ass tourist trinket, slap a rainbow flag on it, mark it up 200% and we'll get in line to suck it's dick.
What will we do to become famous and dandy - like amos and andy, indeed.
