How-to take a screenshot (Windows)

Brandon is right, without the pictures it's hard for newer folks to follow whats going on. so i took a try and sorta recreating the images I will try and post them in the order that was listed above. Click on the thumbnails once to open them in a new window, then click them again if they are still too small/poor quality to read (that will enlarge them just a bit.

hope this helps folks.
First one is the keyboard layout with the PrtScn button circled. Second shows you to click "edit---paste." Third one shows you the pasted image. Fourth one shows you where the select tools are. PS. Air Canada is correct if you press the ALT button and the PrtScn buttons at the same time it will only copy whats in the active window instead of the entire desktop. so you don't have to crop as much.

here are the last three images.

First one shows the part of the photo you want with the selection drawn around it. then if you right click in your selection you'll get that pop up box you you can select "copy." Second photo shows how to grab the little blue square so you can remove all that white space around the part of the photo you want. Third photo shows how to save the file as a JPEG file.

here is something interesting....i just bought a new laptop that came with windows vista, and vista lets you screen capture using just windows media player. i shit you not, i just played my movie, and paused, and print screened the scene right into photoshop., it was awsome. i tell you, after doing it so many other hard ways, i can really appreciate this feature. let it be the first good thing i have found from windows vista.

How to Take a Screenshot Using Windows XP
Note: This How To describes the process in Windows XP. It should work almost identical in Windows ME. You might have problems saving the file as JPG in Win95/98 though. If this is the case, please ask in this thread for more directions.

Part 1 - Cropping the problem

If you need help on getting a screenshot and resizing it this is how you do it.

You need to take a screenshot of the problem, sometimes it's better to take a screenshot of the entire desktop but then you probably don't want to let people see your personal files on your desktop. So you might need to crop the image or the area of the problem. If you don't have enough experience with doing this try the programs that Windows XP provides you with.

- Microsoft Paint (Located in Start, All Programs, Accessories, Paint)
Here is what Paint looks like.

Am I the only one that isn't getting any images here?

The images were there two years ago, when this was posted...
Maybe the site server lost them; Who knows?!

Edit: I see Mike N Herrin also helped by including lost images, later in the thread. ..|
