How Trump could bring World War III [MERGED]

Re: Scenarios for start of World War III

Putin... slim chance, but Kim Jong Un is absolutely nothing to be afraid of. If he tries any funny business, he's gonna get crushed like an ant... and even China is sick of his bullshit.

No, Putin is the more likely. He's decided that battlefield nukes are legit. If Trump doesn't stand firm in Europe, and there's a provocation with a NATO country and NATO responds, Putin is likely to just tell his generals to nuke the NATO armies so he doesn't have to use Russian troops.

And if Trump follows U.S. doctrine on the use of nukes, then he will have nukes -- BIG ones, almost certainly -- fired at Russia.

As a Russian on one of my favorite old TV shows said, "Boom! Everywhere, boom! The whole world -- BOOM!"

We had a group of nations imposing sanctions on Iran to try to prevent their nuclear bombs. Then Obama caved, made a foolish deal with them, paid his muslim friends 150 billion or whatever and now they are back without missing a beat. Obama has us at square one again. If the supporter of terror develops nuclear weapons there may be a world war.

However much of that is true, the trick right now is to not give the hardliners in Iran any fuel for rhetoric. Opposition to them continues to build, fed by a sense that Komeini and his ilk actually betrayed the revolution against the Shah. More and more of the people want to go back to the democracy they were aiming at before the U.S. took it away and imposed the Shah on them.

^ As Iran has now reached the time line where there is hardly anybody there alive who also REMEMBERS what life was like under that former democracy, the frame-of-reference gets weaker and return to a democracy becomes less and less likely.

Afghanis can take you out and show you where Alexander the Great fought battles. They remember that veritable force of nature storming through.

Iranians have the same sort of memory. They don't have to have been alive; they know they have been betrayed by the British, and then by the Americans, and they understand that the way Khomeini took over was another betrayal. The evidence among educated folk there is that patience is running out -- and that's true among many clerics, too, who are harking back to the principle laid down early in Islam that clerics should not rule, and rulers should not dictate to the clerics (yes, Islam had a fence between church and state long before Jefferson decided it should be a wall).

I have to wonder how many people are even aware there ever were 8-inch floppies.

They came before Pong, for cryin' out loud!

Just for comparison, my current phone has more computing power than all the missile silos in the Dakotas.

Too much information. :##:

The Donald probably uses flash drives.

^ I don't think it's stupidity. I think it's pure ignorance. The man doesn't have a clue about being a president.
