William of Nassau, scion
Of a German and ancient line,
I dedicate undying
Faith to this land of mine.
A prince I am, undaunted,
Of Orange, ever free,
To the king of Spain I've granted
A lifelong loyalty.

There are 14 more verses, which I don't know and which are seldom sung, if ever.

I know the full version of "Advance Australia Fair". Generally only the first verse is sung with the chorus ... the rest aren't probably sung because they praise 'ol England ......we have to share a part of her bloody flag ... we don't necessarily want to share our anthem as well .....
and the full version of "Waltzing Matilda" which is sort of an official anthem ... great tune but all about stealing sheep.

Québec doesn't have a national anthem yet, but i expect it will happen within the next 5 years. Now that Québec is recognized as a Nation, and the politics here seem aligned as for things like that to happen soon.

This is the song that some wanted in the past, but we use it for a birthday song.. the chorus is usually what we sign for birthdays instead of "happy birthday".. of course, the words are slightly changed to reflect who's birthday it is.. but it's cool.

^ Quebec is a nation now ?????????
did you know O Canada was written by a french canadian
and the first time it was sung was during st jean baptiste day in 1880

don't try try to break apart something that is great

Unfortunately, I know the first verse and most of the words to the second and third verses. Anyone living in the USA for at least a month that does not know the Star Spangled Banner's first verse is either deaf or living in a cave in the Rocky Mountains.

Oddly enough, whether you're patriotic or not (like me) when you hear the song it stirs the blood. Maybe it's just the way it's sung and what it stands for, however demented the original meaning has become.

No I don't Know it very well.

With what this country has become I don't think the National Anthem should even be sung.

actually, Canada was created by the french canadians. We are the founding nation. So after 200+ years, and with our language, culture and how different we are from you, yes, we're a nation. It was recognized years ago here in Quebec, and last year Harper and the federal government recognized that Quebec is a nation. We're a nation "within Canada" according to them.. but would we stop being one "outside of canada? ummmm i wonder. :)

No one is trying to destroy your beautiful Canada. I love Canada, but it's just not my country. I don't feel any attachment to it. Not any more than you feel attachment to Italy or spain.

You can scream, you can insult, but it will never change how people feel in their hearts! :-)

Vive le Québec!

I know the first two verses of "Advance Australia Fair" but I think I'm a rarity!! Most Australians get stuck after:

"Australian's Let Us All Greet Joyce" hahaha

I know the first verse of the Star Spangled Banner but I'd sound worse than Rosanne Barr if I tried to sing it out loud.

The New Zealand national anthem I can sing but it's hard to get past the first 3-4 lines without nodding off. :p I grew up in NZ and always hated it. A funeral durge.

^ well harper is a twat

when he can get his face out of everyones asshole call me

attachment to italy i have that
it's my birth country

but canada is where i live and so great it is

don't let things that happened 500 years ago define what canada is for you

for me and my family it was emancipation from poverty
and the hope that we all get when we land here

that's canada to me

it worked out for my family
the canadian dream it was

Know the first by heart, the rest is nice but not more than a trivia question....actually where would anyone need to go beyond the first verse?

actually carrie underwood

did a nice version of the star spangled banner last night during the world series.

OK.. technically, there's a second verse to O Canada, but it only gets sung by annoying know-it-alls.

I also know the Star Spangled Banner. Alhtough that only has one verse.

Oh, no! The Star Spangled Banner has four full verses, although only the first ever sets sung.
