#-o guess I should have looked to see Which nation's anthem was in question !oops!

Ugh,
Harpers government passed legislation calling Quebec a "nation within a united Canada".

and would a nation stop being a nation because it wasn't in a "united Canada" anymore? That "within Canada" was Harper's way of appeasing some people, but it means absolutely nothing when you consider the other part of the sentence "Quebec is a nation".

To be honest, Quebec isn't economically capable of becoming an independent nation, unless they continue to expect payments from Ontario and Alberta to support them?

Québec would do FINE on its own.. those scare tactics worked for the liberals, but i don't think they'll work forever. :)

I look forward to the day Québec and Canada, as 2 countries work together and this debate is finally over. :)

attachment to italy i have that
it's my birth country

you know what i meant ;)
Guess i chose the wrong country for my example :)

but canada is where i live and so great it is

don't let things that happened 500 years ago define what canada is for you

i'm glad you love Canada!! it's a great country, i love it too... BUT as i said earlier, it's just not MY country. I feel no attachment to it. My hope is that someday Québec is a country on its own, working with its neighbors. It is possible.

I assumed the question to mean the national anthem of whatever country you live in. Are there some which don't have lyrics?

In other words, if you live in France for example the question pertains to "La Marseillaise" instead of the Star Spangled Banner.

I've got the first verse of The Star Spangled Banner, my own dear country's national anthem. I also have the first verse of La Marseillaise, the English version of O Canada (trying to learn the French version... O Canada, terre de nos aïeux, ton front est ceint de qqch glorieuse... not there yet), the English verse of the South African National Anthem and part of the Sesotho verse (Sounds the call to come together and united we shall stand, let us live and strive for freedom in South Africa our land!/ O se blooke, o se blooke, Setjabasa heso, Setjahasa South Afrika, South Afrika)...
How are people with their State anthems? (for those from the US) I'm personally not so good with Maryland, My Maryland - then again its a pro-slavery song, why should anyone know it...

I can sing both the Canadian (all of the English... but I'm a little sketchy on sections of the French) and Ukrainian anthems. I like them both, but in my opinion, the Ukrainian is more beautiful.
