  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

How would you turn down a guy in a gay bar. my friend told him he was straight.

I guess what I'm not clear on is, at what point are you turning someone down? I mean, do people not talk to each other any more? I have no problem chatting someone up or having a drink with them even if I'm not attracted to them. As long as you're not leading them on and making them think you're interested, what's the big deal?

If I'm single, I just say, "no thank you." If I'm not, I say, "I'm taken."

"I'm flattered that you asked, but I'm just not interested. Thanks, though."

VERY rare that I have to pull that one out. But I have.

Make out with him. Then say "Sorry it's not gonna happen. But at least you'll always have that to remember me by. You're welcome."

I definitely prefer the honest approach. Having to lie says that you are afraid to disappoint others. You can't please everyone, and you shouldn't try. These are grown men, they can handle it and deserve your honesty. You don't have to be a dick about it, but don't hide behind lies.

Well, you don't have to be mean about if, after the second try, they still don't get it. Then you have to take off the gloves and spell it out to them. Even, then, it's better than a lie.
