Huckabee: Single mothers poor, dumb and unemployed

I'm a Clinton Democrat who has switched to Independent. I think the only difference between the your argument and that of the far right is that far right is open about their views.

I say that because what you're saying might sound good but I am almost certain that you are guilty of the same prejudices. You said: "He's a racist." Well, racism comes in many forms and if you as a gay man, aren't attracted to blacks, east indians, asians, muslims, etc. then that makes you a racist.

You said: he "hates single mothers." Well, if you aren't attracted to single mothers, don't befriend single mothers, don't invite them to parties or to dinner, then it's reasonable to say that you too hate single mothers.

You said: he "hates the poor." So, what are you doing to support poor people? Do you date poor men? Do you date poor women? Would you date a homeless man or would you bypass him for the perfect gay guy? Do you invite poor people into your home and do you live among poor people? Probably not.

So, I think many voters, like me, are wising up to the far left and are going to vote against Obama in 2012. It's going to be an interesting election. Also, I think more blacks, as they come into money, are going to vote republican.

I respectfully disagree. Huckabee is playing to the kooky right wing of his party. Apparently the family values thing is important to him, but whatever.

I don't think your assessment of what is in other members hearts because of what they may or may not do follows logically. Using your logic, if I sleep with someone who is poor, I support the plight of the poor. If I invite a minority into my home I'm not a racist. It's about what is in people's hearts that matters, not what they do as a show. Every year, in an extremely poor city near me, rich people from an affluent suburb come and pick up garbage for a few hours. It makes them feel good. News media cover the rich white folks picking up empty beer cans in the ghetto. Then they leave for another year. Do they do it to make the community better or to make themselves feel good? It all depends on what's in their hearts when they do it.

I think you might be missing my point. Yes, it is true, I believe that if you are a proponent of liberal causes that you are just as big a hypocrite as any far right conservative. How can liberals attack Huckabee, yet, turn around and publicly support Muslims, mosques, and every other hateful non Christian religious person? Most of whom do not even like gays. It's like Libs do one thing publicly, yet, run their private lives an entirely different way.

I didn't say "sleep" with a poor man, homeless man, or a black man; I said take any or all as your boyfriend, partner, husband? Furthermore, how many gay liberals on this board would befriend single mothers on welfare or would seriously date a guy who is on welfare or is illiterate or has no job skills? Probably none and yes, that is tantamount to hate. On a side note, I personally know white liberal families that would have a heart attack if their children were to come "out" of the closet or bring home a person of color. My current theory is, that people should embrace their particular views--as do many republicans. Hence, my move to the Independent party.

Anyway, 2012 is going to be anybody's election. I just thought I'd mention how bizarre it sounds for the far left gays on this board, to spew. To the posters who said it isn't discriminatory to be gay or to only date people who either fall or don't fall within a specific category, you are completely wrong. It is all about discrimination.

Sounds like he's describing Arkansas. His home state. The welfare state. For every dollar Arkansas sends Washington in tax revenue, they get $1.41 back. He's actually talking about his own state and constituents especially considering more educated and affluent people voted democratic in 2008.

Text of my message to the NRA:

As an endowment member, I'm writing to express my outrage at the planned appearance of Mike Huckabee at the national NRA convention this year. Mr. Huckabee is a bigot who opposes equality for a significant portion of our population. His prejudice and intolerance cannot be covered up by calling his statements "gaffes". He plays to ignorance and hate in a way that shows he does not really believe that "all men are created equal".

Mr. Huckabee should be disinvited from speaking.



I really wish they'd have a convention near enough I could attend without much sacrifice. I'd get a coterie of Pink Pistols to go with me, and make a bit of a statement.
