Hypnagogic Hallucinations (sleep paralysis, etc)

Yep. I've had Lucid ones where I can take control :) I love the feeling it gives
Have even had non-lucid dreams where I have some bits of control

Must be a great feeling knowing that you can do whatever you want and there would be no true consequences. :)

LOL

Even in dreams where I can take control, there are limits; I don't become an effective god. But it's fun to test to find those limits.

Well how much control do you really have, then? ;)

That is a pretty cool feeling, but like Kulindahr said there are limits you can't fully 'play god' - usually can only control some part of the dream (I love giving myself the ability to fly, and to walk through walls)

If you try too hard to change/control things and/or get too excited you'll essentially crash whatever that little thing in you that makes dreams (ie: you'll wake up)

Best feeling of all is when you 'know' nothing can hurt you because 'its only a dream' - say for example 'something/someone' is after you in a nightmare and you become lucid... just gives the most amazing feeling (can't describe it though) when you tell that 'something' "this is a dream" "you can't hurt me" and its either gone or is suddenly friendly (same sorta effect if its a nightmare where a bad event is about to occur & you just fly away or leave the room LOL)

Usually I can fly, though there can be requirements -- being naked is common, but sometimes it means I have to carry a feather -- or, once, to hold a beach ball between my knees. Frequently I'm limited to swimming through the air.

I've never had a dream where I could dig down. Most of the time, when I dig I can reach a different world with different rules.

But being able to lift a building or shove it aside is rare, and generally if I get hit by a car it hurts. But I can almost always pull something I decide I need out of some container -- pulled a flame thrower out of a U.S. drop-off mail box once, to kill some 'living' skeletons; pulled a chain saw out of a lunch box a different time.

In some dreams, I can go in vacuum and not worry about it, but not in others, though I've gotten to where if I have to deal with vacuum in a dream I pull a sort of rubber boot out of my pocket and put it on; it rolls out into like a wet suit that works as a space suit-- though almost every time, once I put my vacuum suit on, my clothes disappear.

The main element of control is being able to avoid whatever constitutes a nightmare. Dealing with one of those was when I developed my "dig down to another world" ability: everyone I cared for at all was being pulled down underground, one by one. So I started digging, and all of a sudden I fell down into a forest that went on forever, beautiful trees and lush most and grass and ferns, berry bushes and lots of butterflies. Looking up, I saw feet hanging down out of clouds, so I started climbing trees and pulling people on through to my safe haven. After a couple of rescues I stripped and start flying instead of climbing trees.

My favorite trick in dreams isn't flying, though that's fun, it's my "step to where you see" bit, where anything I see is just one magical step away.

I think the ability to fly by being naked came from a (recurring) dream where I'm on the outside of a building and can't get in, but something deadly is coming and I have to get in. I dimly recall a series of this dream where I died over and over, rather painfully. Then in one version I realized that the people on the inside of the building could open the windows, so I just had to get someone to open one. Climbing around, I saw two girls sitting on a bed looking unhappy, and on impulse I started stripping. I slipped off the ledge, but just kept taking clothes off -- I didn't fall! Sure enough, they saw me and opened the window, I climbed in and was safe. Then came a twist: they'd been cursed, and if they didn't have sex with the same guy all in one bed without leaving it, they'd die. :D

So I have weird dreams.....

LOL

Every time I walk through a wall in a dream I almost step on people having sex. It doesn't matter if I'm stepping into an auditorium with an astronomy lecture; right where I step through there will be people getting it on.

I've never had sleep paralysis, however I have - and have on a regular basis - the feeling of falling through the bed as I'm going to asleep. I don't know if it's a dream or what it is, but there's a whooshing sound like wind pouring around me, and next thing I'm standing beside the bed, but I'm still on the bed if that makes any sense at all.

It's been happening for years. First time it happened I woke up terrified. I'd been sitting on my cupboard watching me sleep. Since then I've learnt to just let the "fall" happen. I've even dreamt I've walked around the house while my body is in bed, or gone and sat on the verandah to watch the stars.

Okay, that's nothing like your post. But it's interesting.

That almost seems like Alice in Wonderland with a bit of Duke Nukem (video game reference) thrown in. Falling into never-ending forests while wielding dual flame throwers.

That sounds freakier, to be honest. Though it would be useful to be able to sleep and do something else at the same time.

Weird -- not sure I've ever had anything like that at all. I've "climbed out" of my body sometimes when I couldn't wake up in the dream, though.

OMG... the video game reference! ~~

In one dream I could fly but couldn't control my direction. The way I overcame that was 'lay' on my back and use my dick as a joystick.

I never remember my dreams. Well I do sometimes. The one where I walked down a path and into a kitchen one night and my grandparents were having a cup of tea and were surprised to see me was a good one. I remembered that one. It was an odd dream though, because it seemed so "real" if that makes sense.

Stepping on people having sex when you walk through walls...and using your dick as a joystick while flying...you're horny even in your sleep, aren'tcha?

Varies by dream... sometimes just a little bit, sometimes a fair amount.
Lucid-ness varies independent of control too, you can be only partially so, or pretty much fully.

Never came across people getting it on LOL
I usually just end up outside (thats generally why I go through a wall though is to go outside)
The scenery is almost always nicer looking than in real life (especially if you take the general dull 'real life' winter scenery here)

Interesting.. I've never had flying come with requirements. sometimes I can fly sorta superman-like, sometimes I can just float along (standing up) a few inches above the ground (the latter is more likely to happen in non-lucid dreams though)

Sounds like an OOBE (Out Of Body Experience) ... thats something I would love to have happen.

-----------
I think one of the more odd/interesting ones I had was a 'lucid, but no dream' - basically I became aware I was asleep but was not dreaming, everything was just gray. wouldn't mind having that happen again either.

I go through walls to escape people chasing me. Sometimes when I go through a wall I can make it be some place other than where a door would take you. I was being chased by zombie Nazis who didn't want to eat brains, they wanted balls, and I concentrated and dashed through a wall that should have gone to a conference room, but I made it the school incinerator. I jumped across it, and predictably they blew a hole in the wall with a grenade and charged through the smoke right into the incinerator. There was one heck of a hot college guy shoveling shredded paper into the incinerator, and I told him to strip because he was sweating so hard his clothes were dripping wet... I stripped, too, and we drifted out a window up to ten thousand feet and had sex in the sky while a college football game was going on in a stadium down below.

That reminds me of a dream where I could fly over any sports stadium, close my eyes, vanish and reappear over any other stadium anywhere on earth. THAT was kool.

I knew it sounded familiar to me!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depersonalization_disorder

Of course, I'm not diagnosing you with the disorder, and I wouldn't categorize it as a disorder anyways. I'd just say you have depersonalization experiences. The disorder typically impairs daily functioning and is described by people as "out-of-body" experiences. They detach from their own physical body. Sometimes it is a side effect of medication, a reaction to stress, or a defense mechanism in dealing with ongoing abuse (some people will watch their own physical selves get abused whether it be emotionally or physically). There are other explanations, but those are just a few.

Having read the description of depersonalisation disorder I can clearly state I'm not suffering from it lol. Out of Body experiences may be accurate though.
