I'm not very clued in on Pop Culture so I often don't get the TV/film references in GIFs posted here but that's not anyone's problem but mine. I occasionally find them pretty funny; that one up there posted by almondmilk, with the lion, is gold.

Some people use them well, some people use them poorly. A bit like words, innit?

As rampant as pretentiousness is on JUB, this is probably one of the most self-absorbed things I've ever read.

Well, I wouldn't say all the GIFs in the various threads are really directed to the target. Some people prematurely put them across although not without purpose despite trivial-----like ex-SBC, for example.

When someone posts GIFs, s/he always mean something. The problem is whether you personally judge it as 'properly utilised' or 'overutilised', that's all.
There are plenty of hints when a thread could evolve into GIF fights. The OP identity, the implied content, the last replier, everything. If you felt you were not going to get benefits from opening them, simply avoid them. That's all. No need to complain about the GIF haven threads.

Its old and annoying i do agree i am so tired of reading a thread and its filled with gifs of stupid stuff. One time someone had a decent thread with a question and everyone just started posting gifts and pictures you can't even get a decent thread going on anymore with out people filling it with gifts. I wish the admins and mods would start cracking down on it its really getting out of hand

Ahh. That's another aspect of it. My impression is that the gifs are not even-handed in lampooning people regardless of ethnicity, which adds an additional bit of ick factor.

Meh. I like the animation funnies. The emoticons were getting old.

My pc is fast enough to handle them which is part of why they don't bother me.

My complaint is more with 14 people quoting and re-posting a 5 large photo post that I have to scroll down forever to get to something new. I don't really see a solution to that, though. Like PeTe said, it would be censorship to stop it.

Great idea since A) people will respond positively to their posts being removed and B) the mods have nothing better to do.

You missed the point.
You're like people who bitch about the scat threads in the Fetish forum.
There's no harm in posting GIFs, unless one of the GIFs transmits virus.
Likewise you don't go to the scat threads if you're disgusted with it instead of posting how disgusting the scat-loving people are, you do the same thing here. Stay out of the thread or block the images. Simple as pie.
