It all started a few weeks ago when I was out visiting Nineofclubs -- and really it is his concept... ..|

But I got the IPod touch -- Verizon's Myfi (about the size and half as thick as a deck of cards that creates a wifi connection wherever you are) -- and a thing to play my IPod through my truck stereo...

A couple days ago -- I had planned a short visit in Portland -- so I had the stuff shipped to Daniel's apartment -- and then, earlier this week I got it all set up!!!

It is SO COOL!!! :D

We had a BLAST the short time I was there downloading a bunch of apps and stuff -- and generally goofing off. I think we got so geeky that Nineofclubs partner station2station went to find some of his other friends to hang out with...

I mean -- we did install bump -- and then DID the FIST BUMP at PSU to transfer our contact data from each others Touch's --

Nineofclubs even got rid of his cell phone and just uses Skype through the touch!!!

The apps I have SO FAR are -- Grindr (of course -- I'll start a new thread about my Grindr experiences on my trip from Washington State to Florida) -- Pandora and Slacker (two apps that create a music radio station personalized to your favorite song and artists) -- Iheartradio (picks up stations all over the world) -- GPS tracker (allows my partner to track me as I travel around the country) -- PDX Bus (a REALLY COOL app if you use Trimet in Portland -- shows how many minutes until the next bus arrives and even shows a map of where that bus is) -- and self explanatory are a bunch of normal ones like facebook, Bank of America, Weatherbug, Ebay, Google, Craigsphone, etc, etc.

TONIGHT -- I'll download the Sirius Radio app (you have to upgrade your normal account which I did earlier today) -- and IN THEORY I'll be able download shows from like last night and listen to them when I want... ..|

Does anyone have any AMAZING APP IDEAS???

I'd love to hear them -- I think this thing is like most AMAZING thing EVER!!!

:):):)

^^Try heartradio. It's better than sirius and the big plus is NO SUBSCRIPTION FEE. As for game, sheepblaster and taptap revenge are the only two I like. The rest, I've tried, don't appeal to me at all.

I love my iPod touch soooo much! When Kenny told me you got one earlier, I was like "Woohoo!!".

Some neat apps that I have: eBuddy & Y! Messenger, Skype, ColorSplash, MarbleMash, Labyrinth LE, Facebook, Google Earth, Flixster (Movies), Currency & Tip, NY Times, Koi Pond, Flashlight, iFXMagic, Tube Status, Suduko, Drinks Free, Translator, ChaseTheDot, iPint, Paper Toss, PingPong, Crash Kart and Waterslide!

I have tonnes more, but that'll do now, haha - What kind of apps you looking for? Entertainment, games, photo-editing, music, Pointless fun? Communications?

Seriously SUCH a great product! :D ..| - So did you upgrade your firmware to v.3?

Yeah!!! I've been meeting and talking with some really cool people as I make my drive from the NW corner of the country to the SE corner!!! ..|

If any DENVER jubbers are on tonight -- I'll be on Grindr for a couple more hours!!!

:):):)

I'm on RL Telecommunications. Look for my tin can on a string. :(

Hi Mills!!!

Yeah -- it came with 3.0 so I don't need to upgrade...

Since I started the thread I added YELP, Whole Foods healthy recipes and Grocery IQ...

I guess the applications I like BEST so far are the ones that allow me to find places in the cities I go -- stuff to do while I'm on the road -- and DEFINITELY meeting new people...

When I start my Grindr thread -- you'll be AMAZED at how many people use Grindr -- even out in the BOONDOCKS like Wyoming and Idaho...

They actually seem to be more willing to make friends than in the metropolitan areas -- at least thats my observation to this point...

I'll DEFINITELY get SKYPE and Y Messenger!!!

Gotta go and do that RIGHT NOW!!!

:):):)

You weren't one of those 2 guys in a white Maxima that was giving me a show on I-25 Southbound coming into Denver...

Were you???

EVERYONE -- keep in MIND that if WE are in a TRUCK -- we can see EVERYTHING you're doing in your car...

:lol::lol::lol:

Here's something I posted in The_Pianist's recent iTouch thread, Ted..
I tell you what's a fun and free app, is ColorSplash - It where you can edit a photo, so it could be half colour etc.. here's some I've done (sorry can't explain it too well):

(Didn't want to lumber pics in the thread, so just left links)..

But yeah, ColorSplash.. fucking LOVE IT!!!! :D

Where you???

:lol::lol::lol:

Nope. You'd be looking for an antique K Car with heavily oxidized paint and a Michigan plate.

I'm off exit 243.

Oh WOW!!! My original trip plan had me staying at exit 254 -- but than I decided to keep going and get Denver out of the way...

I'll DEFINITELY have to remember that next time I'm coming through the area...

THAT would have been REAL CLOSE...

and I THINK there are truck stops even a little close (not sure though)...

:):):)

There's fairly popular stops at both exit 240 and 235.

Next time. I've got a brewpub that serves an awesome black bean burger in Boulder to take you to. :D

I got the Weather Channel App because it's better than Apples. Fandango to find movies and be able to order tickets through the phone. Urbanspoon and Yelp to find restaurants and reviews. Wi-Fi Finder to locate free wi-fi zones (and paid ones if necessary). Shazam for song identification. Drinks Free for cocktail recipes. iTV for tv channel guide. Facebook and AIM. And of course Remote to control my iTunes and Apple TV. Have tons more but those are my most used. Going to try Skype this weekend.

Oohhhh I LOVE my iPod Touch! I haven't installed skype because I haven't yet got a mic for it - but when I do... look out, world! I jailbroke my iPod almost as soon as I got it, so I can modify it more extensively, as well as have access to the filesystem. Apps I like are a few crossword puzzles, AVPlayer (video/media player), PwnPlayer (replacement for the iPod music player, which allows me complete freedom from iTunes), Shanghai, TwitterFon, Facebook, Google Earth, LockBox (security app)...

-T.

I'm using WeatherBug instead of Apple's weather app. It's great.

Some of my other favorites are Grindr (of course), Craigsphone (so much better way to view Craigslist), Pandora, Slacker Radio, iheartradio, Skype, PDXBus, WifiTrak, and Facebook.

Based on this thread, I just downloaded Yelp and it looks awesome!

Anyone else have any new, useful and fun apps?

I've had my fair share of iPod touch's...had the original generation, then got the second gen, then upgraded it to one with more memory, would've gotten the third gen when it comes out next month, but got some self control and just invested in an iPhone - THAT'S gonna stop me from upgrading it every year! :D

I second the suggestion of the eBuddy messenger app, I've possibly used that the most out of any that I've got. Also get Facebook (the latest update is great), TwitterFon (Twitter), Remote, Skype...these have all been mentioned though...

If you have a mic that you can plug into the iPod (as the latest one supports microphones connected via the headphone jack), then get Shazam too. Great little app, if there's a song on the radio that you don't know then simply open the app, hit 'tag now' and hold the microphone up to the speaker, it analyzes a portion of the track and can tell you exactly what it is. Being able to connect to the net wherever you are will make that app totally worth it :)
