  • Hi Guest - Did you know?

I got a new hip

How is Bammer handling a somewhat subdued Dad???

Dad hasn't been all that subdued - at least since he got out of the hospital.

DQ's right. The only effect on Bammer at this point is I still need a lot of room in bed, and he doesn't like having to surrender it. For the rest, I discovered just yesterday that I can now bike up the hills on the gravel road out to my conservation project, and have no trouble hoofing it around in the dunes.

I think he's happy I'm not on crutches any longer, though.

And here I thought it was frosting - so much sweeter.

And as for your crutches - there was that one incident IIRC.

A bit off-topic, but does anyone else hear Huey Lewis singing the title of this thread when you read it?

Can't say as I do.

And I do get most of George Takei's daily earworms. . .

Does he still give you that extra bit of room when walking with you?
My cat was very considerate in making sure there was no danger of tripping me up. Even now he is sure to make sure he isn't under my feet
When I first came back from hospital he wouldn't leave my side for days. And yet when I go on holiday and the neighbour comes in to feed him, I get no extra attention when I return

And what to do with the old one ...

Norwegian artist eats own hip, says tasted of ‘wild sheep’

What a hipster! Conceptual artist Alexander Selvik Wengshoel said he served the hip bone with potato gratin and a glass of wine. Born with a deformed hip, he says that having a replacement and consuming the bone that had crippled him, ‘turned it into something romantic.’

And I thought Kuli was an artist.

That is just . . . Wrong . . .

Paging Jeffery Dalmer - party of one in Donner Pass . . .

He gives me a little more room than before, but not as far out as the crutches required.

He also sticks a bit closer in general than he used to. Now if he'd just stop barking so often and loud.....

Aw he's telling you he loves you :luv2:

I was thinking Hannibal Lecter!!
And I was thinking of a cartoon that I was going to link, but it's just simply disappeared. I'm more than 99% sure it was called Larry's Lunch, and it's a semi-modern (1980's) cartoon of a guy feasting on his own body parts. Definitely gross...but has it been entirely banned or something? Even the internet doesn't mention it, so I must have the title way-wrong. No, I'm not confusing it with "Lupo The Butcher" either...

But he generally barks at everyone BUT me....

Though yesterday, dealing with yet another flat on my truck -- same tire, same geographical location -- he had to stay home. I was smart enough to get out of the truck and kneel on the curb immediately, or he would have knocked me over, then probably held me down and licked my face off.

Not sure I if described this issue yet....

My left leg is now its proper length, which makes it a half inch longer than the right one. So to make them the same length, I have a lift in my right shoe. Sounds fine, right?

Well, the issue is that both legs are the same length from heel to knee; the shorter part is in the thigh. So the lift makes my right leg longer from heel to knee, and leaves the thigh shorter. That means that no matter how hard I try, there's no way my walk is going to be balanced. So whenever I do a lot of walking, my lower back gets sore -- and when I do work of any sort, it's worse.

And of course it feeds on itself in a vicious cycle, so today when I wasn't actually done with yard work, my back announced that yes, I was done.

It's not quite enough to make me want to get the next one done in July....
