  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

I got a plan, gays. Look at my new toy.

I agree with Chuck about the boot, and with Dargelos about the raiding.

If they determine the trailer is unstealable, they'll beat the crap out of the thing to clean it out. It doesn't require noise. The can burn off the hinges in minutes with a torch.

Leaving the trailer on site at any time overnight is a big risk.

To your point about GPS, you'd be wise to implant trackers in individual components in the trailer also, as they might well take your trailer to a remote location to break it up for pillaging, and then hide the goods in mini-storage or on their property until reselling it or fencing it or simply using it.

The trick will be to disguise the GPS trackers so they can't be seen.

Ok I'm convinced. Will be taking it home every day.

Just painted it. Still wet. Waiting for it to dry.

Here are the before and after photos.

Will put shelves in tomorrow.

Eventually, will have a TV, couch, etc. Will be my budhole.

Woke up this morning to the paint dried. The floor is now more pronounced I think than last night when it was still wet.

Drinking coffee now. Will go get shelves soon.

How are the renos on the ruined apartment coming along? Or is this intended to assist with the project?

It's an actual house with a garage, not an apartment. And I've been advised by my lawyer to wait until criminal charges have been brought and he's in custody before doing anything with it.

When that time comes, this trailer will assist in fixing that place up. Before, I always had to make multiple trips to bring all the necessary tools and supplies. This trailer will be a game changer for me.

That said, I am seriously considering fixing up that place by myself. It will be a challenge.

Ps assembling the shelves right now.

That sounds like something I would do. The only thing that I required help with is painting the top of the living room, and I'm going to hire people to paint the exterior.
Correction. I'm gonna hire somebody to dig a trench so I can install a new sewer from the house out to the street. I effing hate digging.

You likely don't have to go all the way back. It is very, very likely that the pipe is only blocked a few feet because the concrete that I see in the pic would set up fairly quickly

Just curious, will that require a permit?

A lot of municipalities won't even let the property owner do any work between the house and the street.

Yes, but the old pipe is cast iron and I might as well go all the way with pvc. For the last 3 years I've been on a rampage to replace all my pipes that are cast iron and I could access into pvc.

Yes. That's not an issue. In that town I've done so much work in the last 3 years that I know all the people in the building commissioner office by first name. Its really no biggie.

Shelves are in. Finally I got a mobile tool shed.

Note that th3 bungee cords are temporary. I'll figure out how to keep those tool boxes from flying everywhere later.

Wow! Those are all tool boxes! I have never seen anyone have so many before.
I am one of those jack of all trades Master of none kinda guy. I have found that there are some tools I only use for xyz. For example, when I'm working on pex I only use some tools and these tools are not used for anything else. When I'm working on electrical I found myself only using certain tools. Etc. So, over the years I have divided them up into certain categories. Makes it easier for me to find stuff.

What's wrong with cast iron?

Nothing if they were newer. Unfortunately, all these cast iron pipes were put in 50-100 years ago. They are horribly rusted, corroded, and leaky. And ever time so far I've taken out a cast iron pipe the inside always looked the same: rust buildup had shrunk the inside diameter from 4 inches to 1-2 inches.

I've assembled main pvc pipe going from house to city sewer many times. Honestly, the hardest part is the digging part. A couple years ago, I used to rent a mini excavator to dig a trench. Nowadays, I just hire a couple teenagers to do it and pay them $100 each. Far cheaper than renting an excavator which costs about $400-500.

I can believe that you would hire someone to do the excavating, but when you said you hire teenagers that threw me. I guess if you manage them it could work, but I expected you to hire a professional plumber. How deep are the sewers. In our neighborhood they are below the basement floor and a plumber had to dig down 10 feet. It did cost us a bundle to replace our outside sewer pipe which had been clay tile which had cracked and replace it with pvc.
