On-Topic 'I love you, too': Cardinal Dolan says Catholic Church must embrace gays and lesbians

How many Christian hating threads does CEP need to have?

I get it and think everyone else does too.

But Rolyo "GOD" isn't responsible for man's sins - he only created us, the world, wrote the bib.....

never mind.

It's a joke funny but tragic to those who understand that Roman theology is idolatrous when it comes to Mary, clearly contradicting plain scripture that declares that all humans are sinners except the One Savior.

edit: The "Immaculate Conception", meaning Mary, is a heresy, and quite blasphemous: it means that God could have created all of us without sin, but chose not to, thus turning the whole Incarnation into some masochistic parlor game.
Of course one of the reasons for Mary's elevated position in Catholicism was because of a need for a Divine Mother figure. Christianity is a patriarchal religion and forbids and worship of a Divine Female figure and has a God which although said to have no gender is functionally and relationally masculine. So Mary was given a high place in order to fill the gaping hole of the Divine Mother in Christianity. However notice still that in the religion's patriarchy that she is merely Yahweh's servant and not a equal figure like Goddesses of old. Although she is the first non divine figure in history to have the title of Queen of Heaven. Of course the Collyridians took Mary and gave her Divine worship regardless of what the church said.
To know that sex is about pleasure, one merely needs read the Song of Songs (Song of Solomon), which celebrates that intimacy without making any point at all about bringing children along.

Well whether Solomon existed or not one thing is clear is that he had a whole lot of women. He had wives and concubines and you know he wasn't having sex with them just to get them pregnant.

Why shouldn't we hate Christianity it is a primative, sexist, homophobic and barbaric cult. It should be fought against like it's evil younger brother Islam.

A link to what the Immaculate Conception really is....

http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/07674d.htm

I know. It's blasphemous. If God could make an exception for Mary, then He could have made every single other human being born sinless as well. That would have immensely reduced the amount of evil, and thus suffering, in the world!

There's no theological justification for it whatsoever -- it's purely and simply an imposition of pagan philosophy onto ideas from the Bible, without regard for the message of the Gospel (that's obvious from the use of the word "essence").

The far more ancient teaching, one in accord with the Bible, is that the moment the Word proceeded from God via Gabriel, Mary's womb was made fit for Jesus by the arrival of that Word, which was simultaneous with the arrival of the Word made flesh. This is an exact parallel with the woman who touched Jesus and was made whole, by her faith: Mary's faith made her a vessel which could receive, and God's grace did what the Gospel was about, namely reverse the relationship between clean and unclean -- before, if what was clean touched something unclean, it was made unclean as well, but with Jesus, Who was clean, when He touched what was unclean it became clean.

You really ought to read and address the substance of a thread rather than resort to one of your trite categorizations. This thread is about just how smarmy a certain Cardinal of Rome is in his bigotry, and from there a reasonable extension of that to all clerics in the same position.

Oh, the archaeological evidence is certain; Solomon was real. It's not quite so certain he actually wrote the book/song given his name, though.

LOL Good point! If procreation was the purpose for marriage, why don't we read that Solomon had one thousand, eight hundred and sixty-three children? With his hundreds of wives and concubines, if he didn't reach that number he was certainly slacking!

Yeah, we know that you despise love, patience, hospitality, peace, kindness, truth, faithfulness, mercy, and the rest. So...

give it a rest.

You didn't. It's like saying "Government doesn't govern, politicians do". Christianity IS the people that represent it, whatever the philosophy behind it.

Hardly. By that reasoning, anyone who felt like it could decide to call themselves doctors, and the results they got would "BE" what doctoring is.

In other words, your little bit of sophistry makes the definition of anything a matter of what whoever decides to claim the label acts like -- except not even that; you effectively define a term by the most famous or infamous examples from the set of anyone making a claim to the title.

But it's even worse: you're defining something by those who are clearly failures at it, in a matter where a stated axiom is that no one can attain the actual definition.

How about turning over a new leaf and try to stop criticizing other people's posts.

You and CowboyBob need to get hitched.
