I Thought I Knew - Book 1 and Book 2

HR, you are probably not expecting that I would comment after all this time.
I have to admit, I have avoided the story for years, but only because of its length.
The other day, I came across it (because of Marvin's comments bringing it up to the top of the forum)

I decided to binge read both books.

You are a truly gifted and talented storyteller.

I was literally exhausted after reading most of the chapters. The action and emotion packed into each installment captures the feelings that I had as a youth. The excitement of having that first love, the feelings of euphoria after a ball-draining, sweat soaked sheets session, and yes, even the uncertainty when first coming out, are all captured here.

You took a creative risk, telling a true story. It was successful.

To Billy, Justin, Jess, Tom, and all the others involved...Thank you! Sharing your story will help to give lots of kids in the closet their courage to be themselves.

To HR...thank you for taking this on.

I know that you have a third book about Jess. But right now, I don't think I am ready to read it. I am still processing the first two books.....

Ronboy -- When I saw that there was a post from you to "I Thought I Knew," my first reaction was that there was some sort of glitch in JUB's software. When I realized it was not a mistake, I was so pleased to see your kind comments. Thank you so much for the compliments, but more importantly for taking the time and effort to read it.

When I read, "I was literally exhausted after reading most of the chapters," it made me think back to writing it and the reactions so many guys had every week from reading the latest chapter. You certainly weren't the first person to power read through both books, but you are among a very select group. I know how exhausted I was after each chapter was finally posted.

I have been surprised time and again not only by the impact this story has had on young men like Marvin dealing with all the same issues, but by how much it has meant to older men too, many of them partnered to men and women and still struggling with their sexual identity, other like you enjoying remembering just how intense a time that transition period is no matter how old you are now.

Take all the time you need before launching yourself into "Jess' Story." You'll find it is a bit different than the other two, but of course you should be prepared for "the excitement of having that first love, the feelings of euphoria after a ball-draining, sweat soaked sheets session, and yes, even the uncertainty when first coming out."

Sir Ron - all this time - of course you have some real life experiences of a similar nature to reflect back on while mine are of a more *traditional* relationship - not that I don't love my wife and didn't love the intensity of our early love life - but there is something to the other side of the equation... I'm glad you took the plunge and enjoyed it as much as I know a lot of readers have - I was fortunate enough to read it along with Chaz and others as our prodigious author posted the chapters - while we waited with breathless anticipation.

Has it really been that long - just about, I guess. The things that have change in the last decade...

Of course, in My case, I'm looking back down that road from a far distance away from those years! But, from what I can remember, HR, you're putting into words what my over-stressed brain was feeling, but was unable to interpret into any sense of coherent thought, during those times!

Chapter 26 – Part I
From Justin’s viewpoint​

The feedback from the last chapter has been great, but it feels like the pressure is really on me now. I have been working on these last two chapters for weeks. Unfortunately I have lots and lots of notes from all three guys from a whole bunch of different interviews at different times. I've tried putting them together so many different ways to try to capture just how this whole thing goes when Jess comes back. And, off course, Jess does come back in tomorrow's chapter. You won't be disappointed!

The way I've got it set right now . . . and it could still change . . . it looks like the final chapter next week will be in six parts. Fair warning, some of them are quite short. I'm not sure how to pace it. Maybe one each day like with other multi-part chapters. Maybe not. And, remember, I'm still trying to get it just right, so everything could still change.

Whatever magic you work with those notes, it cums out awesome!! Wish I had discovered JUB back when you were writing this.
