  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

I want to shove it ALL in my mouth at once and swallow...

It looks disgusting however I've heard that it is quite nice and I may give it a try.

that's what i used to think about sushi, but since i've ventured and tried stuff, i've grown to love it.

helpful hint: start with the cooked varieties of sushi, then gradually work your way to the raw ones ..|

Sushi is awesome. For the "omg its raw I won't eat it" people out there, lemme set things straight-

- Not all sushi is raw.
- Raw meat (such as Sashimi) is healthy to eat. It has a ton of protein (its meat...)
- Good sushi is fresh, bad sushi is old, and in some cases, bad sushi can make you sick.
- Every type of sushi is different, just because you like/dislike one does not mean that applies to all.

For the newbies- try a Dragon Roll, California Roll, Tempura Roll or Philadelphia Roll.

Whether you eat raw fish or cooked fish, please be aware of mercury contamination and limit your self to two servings of tuna / salmon / whichever other fish are prone to contamination per week.

Watch out for mad cow disease when you eat a burger too.

If any of you guys live in DC.. go to Oya and order the soft shell crab. That shit is delicious and never had anything like it before.

I'll eat steak anyday of the week but sushi..... can't eat raw fish

I love sushi of all kinds and varieties. Although, my favorite is a simple spicy tuna maki. A little pickled ginger and soy sauce (no wasabi!) and I'm in heaven.

When I first expressed a liking for sushi, my mother turned up her nose at the thought of eating raw fish.

I responded by making her some maki rolls filled with smoked salmon - which I know is not an authentic Japanese ingredient, but which proved that she did in fact already eat raw fish - and rather liked it.

End anecdote.

Re: I want to shove it ALL in my mouth at once and

Coming from the sushi capital of North America... you can only imagine how much I LOVE sushi. If any of you ever visit Vancouver, you should ask around about the best sushi places...

Oh my god I think I just accidentally resurrected a year old thread...

Re: I want to shove it ALL in my mouth at once and

It was sad to move this off of 69, for that was what I had sort of
expected, but what a surprise, it is about sushi, yum, yum, yum, just like my man I like it raw.

Shep+

Eating June bugs! YUK! :##:

Hey Abs,

I'm not much for Sushi, but maybe I can buy you steak someday,....... if I'm ever in STL!

I'll buy you a steak too Sausy, if you'll stop eating those nasty bugs! ;)

most of the food in post #1 looks good but NOT that tasty.

Re: I want to shove it ALL in my mouth at once and

The Narny has told me there's a really decent sushi place on Granville downtown but, she can't remember the name.

I've tried sushi and it was okay but I suspect it's best prepared at a decent sushi restaurant. The Narny and I are planning on a visit to the one on Granville.

Well, I'm no expert, and definitely haven't tried EVERY place, but I've taken a few friends over to my favorite sushi place, and they all agree that it's one of the best they've had.

Tokyo One Sushi, along West 10th Avenue, in the Point Grey area. Try it. I recommend the rolls and nigiri, if you're going to go there.

Re: I want to shove it ALL in my mouth at once and

Guess Abs don't wanna a steak! Oh well, his loss!

I'll buy Sausy two steaks then!
For two steaks I'm swearing off the june bugs for good! Thanks Robert!:gogirl:(!)

Re: I want to shove it ALL in my mouth at once and

I love sushi/sashimi. If you do not like eating raw fish there are items that you can try (cucumber roll, California roll, among others) before dismissing all sushi restaurants as "bait shops."

Sushi is oishii (delicious).
