  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

I would like to start a boycott of the Philadelphia Eagles

sorry but i have to disagree. the media and America shit on Michael Vick for getting caught, for dog fighting.

I don't think that was why he was shat upon. They were more upset that Vick murdered his dogs to avoid being caught.

There's a big difference.

Man you know how many convicted felons are in the nfl???

If you're going to boycott the Eagles you might as well boycott the whole National Footbal League

I pretty much do - I resented when they were striking because they were only earning a few million a year to play ball. In the past 5 years I have refused to pay to attend any games. The ticket prices are out of control, parking is a joke, and the cost of the food is insane. For the price of 1 beer I can get 1 perhaps 2 six-packs. Has anyone priced tickets at Yankee stadium recently?

I listened to NFL/dog torture/pit bull fighter speak today on the news.
He says very little for VA Tech, the guy cannot put a sentence together. He can't speak properly!!!!!
How in the world could this guy ever get out of college in the 21st century?
Here lies the problem that our nation doesn't give a hoot about these high priced meat puppets playing in socially funded... socialized ..... arena's built with tax payer money for private big profit business and no one says a thing, in fact most of the Neanderthals kiss the ground they walk on and have no problem paying a weeks salary for a nose bleed ticket and a 12 oz beer to watch these guys who may have received a free ride for that piece of paper for some expensive college that most people can't afford but if they went could at least speak properly. Just so they can butt heads together and spank each others ass.

sorry but i have to disagree. the media and America shit on Michael Vick for getting caught, for dog fighting. he is not the only celeb or person who does it. everybody deserves a second chance and i am glad he got a chance to continue to fulfill his legacy in what he loves. i don't agree with or understand dog fighting, but hey to each his own.i so love it and can't wait to see what he brings to the table. but i would've loved for him to go the Raiders. he did the crime, served his time and now he back to kick major ass in the football league.

marcholm85 there is a resaonable argument for giving convicted felons a second chance to restart their lives, but "to each his own" is not a good response to the question of animal cruelty. And we don't excuse criminal behavior just because a particular criminal "is not the only celeb or person who does it." I can be convinced that a person deserves a second chance, but your apparent moral indifference to the suffering of others does concern me.

I am sorry, but I hope it is possible for him to have this second chance, and I trust he will use it well. I trust Tony Dungy who is mentoring him.

I know how you feel. I want my ten seconds back that I had to spend reading your post three times trying to figure out what you were talking about.

Regarding MV, sure, I'll join your boycott. Although as a Chiefs fan living in Minnesota who has been to Philly once and wouldn't be caught dead at an Eagles game (because that's probably what would happen), I'm not sure how much good my boycott will do.

Actually, I'm all for second chances, and I hope he is truly remorseful. But I understand if people don't like his second chance and want to boycott the Eagles or those who sponsor them.

Oh for God's sake. GET OVER IT.

The man lost millions of dollars, SERVED 28 months in jail, and did community service. All those Michael Vick is an animal discussions you were having while feeling self-righteous; he was in jail during that time.

Wooin wooin, puppies. It was horrible yes, but he's paid his dues. Let him resume his life!

The sad thing about our society is that if he had killed/assaulted someone we would have already forgotten about it.

^ Unfortunately true. And I completely agree with you.

Americans like pretending that they really care about animals. Except of course the ones they eat. Then it's okay to mistreat him. I wonder how many of the outraged and affected have called for the plantowners who produce their meat to be imprisoned and cast into a lifetime of professional obscurity.

In other threads I've seen comments saying Vick is the lowest form of human life and what not. REALLY? Worse than the people that would that string you up to a tree and club you to death because you're gay? UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

If someone does that to me (or anyone on here for that matter) I will boycott them too.

^ You'll boycott someone if they club you to death? At that point, it might be a little late for that.

I can't believe the Eagles were dumb enough to hire him. Talk about a no-win situation. They'd be better off getting TO back...

You do know he plays football, right?

If I had a strong stomach, I'd like to tune into some local Philadelphia sports shows, to hear how the hosts and fans are reacting to this news. It's amazing how many second chances fans will give players once they sign up for THEIR team. If they play somewhere else, of course, band the mofo.

Yeah, it's sports, and sports is (supposed to be) entertainment, right? We're not talking about some guy who just got out of prison and needs a job so you let him sweep up at the homeless shelter. This asshole is going to be on our TV screens every friggin Sunday. And how are you supposed to not think about what he did every time you see him? I don't care about "he's paid his debt to society", or whatever. I'm reachin for the remote...

Well, that IS his job. It's not like he used to be a street sweeper, and they gave him an NFL contract upon leaving prison. He always was a football player, and apparently a damn good one. Which is why the Eagles signed him up. Certainly they know there's gonna be quite a bit of backlash for it, and it'll be interesting to see if the backlash proves worth it in the end.
