From Wikipedia "Totalitarianism is a political system in which the state holds total control over the society and seeks to control all aspects of public and private life wherever possible"
I, and on some level, most Republicans see global warming as the basis for another totalitarian ideology. We know the democrats all too well. They have taken the phrase "regulate commerce among the states" as a justification for absolute control of business and many aspects of our individual lives. They have used their own racism as a further source of power over thought and speech. They have consistently used class warfare as a source of power.
There is no question that the democrats have and will use the bugaboo of global warming as an ideology justifying total control of the economy and our lives. Everything effects the environment, so the government must control everything.
I see global warming as primarily a political ideology with perhaps a kernel of fact, but with a strong motive to exaggerate and distort the kernel. Notice the calls for silencing of "deniers" of the ideology, not unlike other totalitarian ideologies. Also notice that they ignore the ideology when it suits their political purposes. While there are calls for regulation of business and our lives to limit emissions, the same people insist upon the continued massive flood of immigrants, and creators of emissions and pollution, because they will likely vote democrat. Notice that there are virtually no calls for limitation of population growth world wide or in the US, even though the growth dooms all other attempts of limit emissions to failure.
The liberal response to warming is "hooray, we get to tax, tax, tax and regulate, regulate, regulate."
