Suspend your disbelief for a moment.
You walk down the street. You see a person walking uncoordinatedly. He's got blood all over his clothes. He makes a growling sounds. You see his eyes and they are white. Like the kind of eyes you see on a dead fish. Then he attacks someone in front of you. He bites and scratches that person. And while that's happening, you can see that the bloody person has a lot of wounds on him, including a big gaping hole in his throat.
Ok, I'm not much of a writer. So, take it how you will. My point is after 50 years of zombie movies, tv shows, and novels, would you recognize a zombie? Or are you going to act like the characters by freezing up and let the zombies bite junks of flesh off of you? Or even better, are you going to try to talk to the zombies while they attack other people?
I'm currently listening to an audible novel series called "Dead Meat". Very entertaining and addicting. I listen to it while I drive for uber eats.
The characters can be divided up into 2 groups. All the young people that instantly recognizes those are zombies and try to fight, getaway, run, and warn the adults. And then there are the adults who freeze, get attacked, try to talk to the zombies, etc. For instance, there was one scene where an early 20s guy trying to gather his stuff to get out of town see a zombie approaching a playground where 2 eight year old boys played. He went and told the boys to get away. As soon as he told them it's a zombie coming, the boys instantly knew what to do. They ran home and locked the doors. But it's the adults who are the ones to open the doors and try to tell those "people" to get off their properties. And get eaten.
Makes me wonder. Media content have a lot of impact on us. Everyone knows about mass shooters. Everyone knows about aliens and anal probes. Everyone knows about terrorist attacks. And if you're being chased by a guy in a mask with a chainsaw, we everyone knows not to run and hide in a garage full of rusted sharp stuff. Etc. I would argue that there have been enough movies, tv shows, and novels by now that at least most people know what a zombie is. Heck, it wouldn't surprise me if I ever find out that zombies are real and all the movies, tv shows, and novels have been put out by some conspiracy to train people about them without causing panics.
How would you react if you run into a scenario like the description above?
