I would travel back to before [STRIKE]Satan[/STRIKE] Reagan became Governor of California and maybe take him out on the town..get him drunk and set him up with a whore...film it...and make it public before he has a chance to inflict himself on our state or nation.

I guess I am the oddball. I would go forward instead of backward. I want to see where the world is headed. And of course I would make sure to pick up winning lottery numbers.

I'd go back and wipe out organized religion and undo all the pain and suffering it brought upon the world.

There's a list, actually. But the world really could have been a better place.

And, yeah... if I could do it, I would go back and nudge my own past just a little. I would be happier or dead of Aids, but in either case I would have lived my youth as myself, not what the Catholic faith expected of me.

And dear god, I used to lust after River Phoenix... He was sooo cute. I cried when he died.

Time travel backwards is impossible -- though it could be possible to send information. So I'd like to send myself a message telling myself that sex isn't evil, hardons are natural, it's okay to be attracted to guys, pick a college where I'd be able to be myself, join the Coast Guard once the physical requirements got reduced from what the Marines require, and save to buy chunks in the IPOs of Apple and Microsoft and Nike.

Oh, yeah -- and tell myself that I'm not going to win most of those races anyway, so be nicer to my joints on downhill runs, because it will pay off.

It really is incredibly unintelligent to return to the past to change anything. Though naturally the consequences of any changes wouldn't be known as we would have no knowledge of what events had really been. You kill Hitler and the subsequent European History, for better or worse, would become the new reality replacing all knowledge as we know it.

But observation and returning with proofs of past events would seem to have some advantages in that it only affects our future based on our reactions to these proofs.

I would be happy to provide actual proof of whether Christ existed or not.

Was Alexander the Great really gay.

Its hard to answer. Everything could change, maybe for better or worse and it would be hard to tell.

I'd like to just visit the past and see what it would have been like in Roman times or living in a Celtic tribe.

Maybe I'd tell them a few things about medicine (not that I know anything about it myself) but it would stop a lot of suffering.

We don't.

Do I wish I could have a re-do on parts of my life - be more focused when I was younger so I didn't just go with the flow and fuck up some happiness along the way - and more financial independence - sure.

BUT - that damned law of unintended consequences - We have a VHS Tape collection we bought when our son was small - Hanna Barbera Greatest Stories Ever Told - Adventures From the Bible - to be able to go back and see history as it was made, meet Christ and others - yeah.
 
I would go back to 1960 or so when Bill Gates didn't even exist and create Microsoft but call it something else.
 
Giving Chester Carlson a good swift kick to help him redefine Xerox's business mission would have had a lot of impact on that - Windows, Mouse - minor stuff like that.

This is a good one! It would be interesting to learn that the fundamentals have it all wrong which I firmly believe is the case.

Personally, of course I would change several decisions I made through the years that ended up biting me in the ass.
 
i would change this or that after thinking about it very hard and probably have a discussion with a couple of very smart and educated people about it. but i certainly would also go on a big fucking shopping spree ^^
