I want to get a DVD player from a PC Richard & Son in the area, however, I have a hard time spending money at places that seem to put the customer last. When most retail stores seem to never be knowledgeable about their inventory, or expect the customer to know anything they can on their own, and make informed decisions without any assistance, it can be frustrating.

I called in about the item, and even though the store may have been busy, resulting in a possible tie up on the floor, a store manager who answered seemed too curt for my tastes. When questioned about the player, he was disinterested in verifying it's availability, and hung up abruptly. It was awkward, and I thought I'd share.

Buy it somewhere else.

Post your review on Yelp to be more effective...and to alert other consumers in your area. I don't even know who is PC Richard is. Does he also have a daughter?

Many of us don't come to JUB for restaurant or store reviews. We come here for porn reviews!

I find it curious that you expect every employee to know everything about everything in stock. It's one thing to be standing beside a item with a customer, and quite another to be aisles away from an item and trying to answer your question when he possibly doesn't even know what item you're asking about. And, if he is busy with customers who actually took the time to go to the store. . .

It's just one thing after another.

Isn't that what that big-eared kid said in this movie? :p

Most retail establishments don't even take phone inquiries anymore. "Personal shopping only." So much for, "let your fingers do the walking."

You're on the internet. A excellent place to do all sorts of research on almost any product ever made by man or nature. Much superior to the actual store living sales person in almost all cases.
If you went to PC Richards website I bet they have a inventory listed for the store you shop. Then you could go and examine the product & ask any additional questions in person to see if that's what you really wanted. But I wouldn't be surprised if after researching the product you could tell the manager more about it then they know. Plus sales people will always tell you lies. Circuit city never failed to tell me "excellent choice I have/had one of those myself at home". Or they try to up sell you into something they want to move at a higher buck.

I recently made an enquiry to Panasonic about one of their own DVD players regarding the types of disc it would play. The answer was they could not guarantee what types of disc it would play. They didn't know what their own equipment could do.

I research the item online. Did the item get good reviews from various websites. What was it ranked?
Obviously a sales person is going to tell you the good things about an item. But if that item gets bad reviews on the interview, I buy a different brand
