I'm going on hiatus from JUB

After much thought, I have decided to go on hiatus (a break) from JUB.

This week, there was some nasty things that were said to me & attacks made on my family, and it really hurt me.

I don't know why it is you guys hate me so much -- maybe it's because I'm Indian? Maybe it's because I'm fat? Is it because I'm not that promiscuous? Or maybe it's because I'm a conservative or Republican?

There's a fine line between criticizing someone's opinions or beliefs, and attacking someone's dignity, character, and taking away their humanity.

I feel like I'm walking on eggshells here because other guys who have been hated as much as me here on JUB have mysteriously disappeared or have been banned.

I just think it's shameful that some older gay men on this site who are in their 50s or 60s (I'm not mentioning any names), have decided to bully & attack me, a gay man in my twenties who recently came out.

I think it might be a good idea for me to get off the computer so much and go out and actually try to meet some gay guys.

I don't really have any gay friends yet, but I want to get involved with the Log Cabin Republicans, since they share most of my political views & they are openly gay.

Can this thread be locked please? It's just another attempt at a war, with no lesson learned. I know the irony of me asking for this to be pre-emptively locked is negated by me posting, but still, enough is too much.

You don't get it and I'm afraid you never will - which is probably why you won't be missed by many, if any. Not because you're a republican. Not because you're Indian(btw, nice try with the race card, but you'll get absolutely no sympathy from me on that). Not because you're fat(haven't seen a single picture of you - don't care). But because you crave attention and when you don't get the attention you think you should be getting, you cry. And you whine. And you claim to be attacked "for your beliefs", and you put on this air that you're a martyr when really, people have tried to help you and you've ignored them, people have tried to give you a different point of view and you've ignored them, people have battled you and you've shrugged them off, proved none of your points, and then all of a sudden decided you're HURT by what they're saying. You attack the "older people" - and then don't name names - but then you contend to always be attacked. Mainly because you make quips, to open yourself up to them. And now you're going away for awhile, which really means to me that you're going back to lurking, evident by the green light, seeing how many people will come in and "prove your point". Which is kinda why i'm asking for the lock - I don't want you to have the satisfaction of being "right", even if that rightness is only and always in your own head.

Take a hiatus. Delete your account. Get yourself banned. None of it matters. Nothing changes until you're willing to see your errors, fess up to them, and change. Goodbye.

Don't thank me for listening - it's apparent for the last few weeks that you haven't been. Why should we?

@MoufofKhaos -- I'm just letting people know that I will be taking a "leave of absence" so to speak, from JUB, so I can go out and get some experiences in the real world.

When I didn't post for a few days, people were cracking jokes that my parents sent me back to India. So that's why I'm clarifying it now.

Also, a BIG THANK YOU to the JUB members who have sent me PM's over the last couple days with words of support. I greatly appreciate it!

I think maybe you got off on the wrong foot with some very unforgiving people. You can't and won't be loved by everyone, so don't try. You do need life experience away from the internet, however. Be well and you will be back.

Turning off your computer and going outside your gated community should be just the thing you need in order to get a modicum of life experience.

As I noted yesterday, your latest attempt at starring as the ultimate victim in the play about your own life and complaining about the grave injustice I've done to you (since you seem to want to play coy) just doesn't seem to be getting picked up for the full length movie version by the major studios.

Your relentless posting and politicking on behalf of the party that is never going to love you like you love them probably will get you marks down at the local RNC where you volunteer, but you aren't going to make much headway among the homos who would eat broken glass before they subscribe to the shallow me-first ethos that you exemplify and trumpet at every opportunity.

But you know what I really think?

I think that you'll change your mind.

That having got really close to the edge and realizing that you've failed in your mission to get a mention of 'Republican' in every post you make, you will be back tomorrow to try once again.

Do you really think that we haven't seen these kinds of dramatic proclamations before? Some of them have been hilarious.

And if you do decide to take a few days off and only come back closer to the Primary season to tell us all why we should all vote Republican, I'll bet you'll just be brimming over with stories about what some evil liberal gays somewhere have done that is all about you and tales of all the incredible white clean-cut, clean-shaven conservatives you've met at the LCR weinie roasts and would like to marry and live out some kind of Ozzie and Harriet life in a gated community somewhere far away from the WEHO homos.

I don't want to live the rest of my life in the city. I eventually do want to live with my husband in the suburbs. I want a nice single-family house with a grand foyer and curving staircase, and at least a 2-car garage and a nice backyard with a garden and a swimming pool

West Hollywood is nice to visit, but I'm not sure I want to live there (not to mention that it is expensive for what you get). Plus the people are so liberal, they are socialist (and they admit it). I was talking to the cashier at a gay XXX bookstore in WEHO the other day and he told me that he is a proud socialist. I was a little scared, but I was like, um....okay......

WEHO is one strange city (it's politically independent of Los Angeles). It's a city that doesn't have much respect for the military, they don't have any celebrations or events for Memorial Day, but they declare a "go go dancer appreciation day" and the city sponsors art exhibits of Tom of Finland (XXX art which depicts burly, hairy gay men with large penises). Can you imagine any other city in America that would sponsor public erotic artwork displays of burly hairy men with thick penises?

I'm just a boring, traditional gay guy...........so I'm looking for a "traditional" kind of a lifestyle.

Yeah, that is a very good idea. Try to open yourself to some more people in the real world, eg, also on your college. I hope you will meet some nice guys over there. Be aware that there are also alot of nice straight guys. The real world is different from the e-world, and I would like to wish you good luck.

P...but go in full armour and have your weapons (facts) in usable shape.

I go on hiatus once in a while, and I recommend it.

In your situation, while you're away, I also recommend meeting people offline. If you meet any republicans, (I mean every day run of the mill republicans, not the ones confined to house arrest in some cabin somewhere), you might want to remind them of this:

And then ask them why they fight so hard to attack the dignity, character, and humanity of every gay man like you and me.

Okay, but to be fair, do you get tired whenever there is a new topic criticizing Republicans or conservatives?

The majority of threads in the "Current Events & Politics" forum are ones that attack Republicans, Republican legislative proposals, Republican presidential candidates, etc etc.
