And before washing the vegetables I took a picture (crappy cellphone quality ;) ) - so here is what I got:

attachment.php

green leaf salad, red oak leaf lettuce, "linda" potatoes, kalamata olives, black+green olives, chives, red paprika, three "red prince" apples, three red onions, two zucchini, goat cheese, pork belly, two sweet potatoes, garlic, two eggs.

All together less than 20 EUR (without the olives + goat cheese it would have been around 10 EUR though).

Just wondering where do you all get your fresh food - if you buy fresh food at all? .. what do you pay for it? How much fresh food do you buy for a week? This will last about a week for me together with other stuff like noodles, rice etc what I don't buy at the ("outdoor") market but in a supermarket.

Olives... *vomits*
Remind me never to eat at your place.

That photograph is a delight for the eyes. The scrumptious fresh vegetables, fresh fruit, garlic, olives etc. does indicate that Corny is devoted to maintaining good health.

A fine example of common sense and realisation that good health needs our investment in a healthy diet.

But where's the wine?

Bravo! Corny.

No worries, olives are not indented to be shared. They are MINE :)

I don't buy wine at the market, and I don't buy much wine because not many of my peers drink wine :( But I still have a nice bottle of Casillero del Diablo (Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile) waiting to be enjoyed.

I am a big fan of Chilean wine, and especially a Cabernet. But I am not sure that I would appreciate drinking a wine with the devil in the detail.

I just came back from the market in Delft myself. We do that at least once a week (on Saturday), but there's a market on Thursdays as well.

I spent 20 euros on lettuce, pears, cheese, two packs of herbs, sour dried apricots, macadamia nuts and asperagus.

I usually go late in the afternoon, when the vendors drop a little off the price to get rid of their wares.

I'm over olives and olive oil (and not just because I spent a season harvesting them in Spain).

OOOOooo! A "Hawt" Naked Guy + Olive Oil = (!) !!!

Uh ... what was the topic, again??? #-o :slap:

Hey! This is JUB, after all!! (!w!)

Keep smilin'!!(*8*)
Chaz :-<

Oh yeah asperagus season .. people here go nuts over it. To me it's just overpriced, and neither tastes good enough to justify the price. Macadamia nuts on the other hand are well worth their price ..|

i just got back from the market too, they had 2 quarts of Edys ice cream for 6 dollars....guess whats in my freezer now? Rocky Road and Reeses Peanut Butter cup ice cream....no pic. sorry

Don't have much of a choice here in my town. For most things, I end up going to Wal-mart. For fresh fruits/vegatables and meat -you go to Dillon's/Krogers (a supermarket chain). I just bought red seedless grapes for 1.29 a pound (2 lbs), gala apples for 1.37 a pound (about 3 pounds), and I hit their salad bar and got salad "stuff" for 3.00 yesterday.

Since I live alone, I usually buy from Dillon's salad bar rather than buy all the ingredients. It's cheaper on me in the long run and I don't have to worry about items going bad before I use everything.

mikey

I've never seen where you can buy less than a dozen eggs.
6 eggs in a package is quite common here, too. But even in most super markets you can also buy single eggs.

Ice cream at the market? I guess you mean the supermarket, right?

There are a few supermarkets here who have fresh food, too (actually all have, but the quality in most of them is really bad).

Grapes and apples are quite cheap compared to here, but the salad rather expensive :)

Market is just the best way to have Fresh, good and awesome quality products !!!!!

Good job Corn ;) :)

And it makes your pee smell stronger and more distinct than usual - fact.
