I'm so old I remember............?

I'm so old I remeber when TV's came with knobs on them. I was the remote control. "Get up and change the channel son" I had a 13 inch black and white TV in my bedroom. Do they still make black and white TV's?

getting our first TV (round screen in a big box)

asking an operator for the number you were calling

the introduction of FM radio, stereo recordings, color TV

Queen Elizabeth's coronation

5 cent candy bars and pop

jukeboxes with 78 rpm records

when DA was a hair style for men not a district attorney

Having good eyesight, hearing and HAIR

I am so old I can remember
When you only had one rotary dial phone in the house
When the TV set was huge and the screen was about 6 inches across
When Sky King and Penny were on Saturday AM
When Fury was on Saturday AM
When the mouseketeers were on everyday after school
When KooKoo Fran and Ollie were on TV
When stick candy was only a penny
When movies were about $.50 and popcorn a dime
When you had to tape a nickle to the arm on your record player to keep it from sticking
When the only porn was in National Geographic Magazine
When I got really excited about Dick Clark's American Bandstand
When there were no such things as car seats for little kids
When there was no such thing as self service gas pumps
When they actually washed your windows and checked your air and oil when you filled up with gas
When you could get a frozen Zero Bar at the snack bar
When the toothfairy only out a shiny dime under your pillow
When you could go out trick or treating and get real stuff and not be afraid
When you and your friends would go out all day sledding down the big hill and then come home to a big pot of hot chocolate with lots of little marshmallows
When we only had one choice of colors in underware - white from Sears
When no one had ever heard of a seatbelt
When everyone smoked everywhere
When Ed Sullivan was on Sunday nights
When Walt Disney presents was on Sunday nights
When there were no interstates and it took forever to drive anywhere on vacation

OK I think that is enought to date me for now!
peace (*8*)

When portable telephones were huge!

When they used to make princess telephones

When people used typewriters

When you had to go downtown to shop (I still miss the big downtown department stores!)

(for all Western New Yorkers) When Wegmans was merely a grocery store instead of a destination!

I'm so old I remember a time when Adventure Island (older Aussies will remember) and the Banana Splits were something to look forward to.

We had Banana Splits here in the US. How about HR Pufnstuf (SP)? Or Simon the Sea Monster? Those Sid and Marty Croft boys had to be doing some serious acid or something to think up all those crazy charcters.

Beta
8-tracks
78s (okay, so they weren't mine)
the '80s--before they were cool

Oh man I can't add anything but only reflect on what was posted.
Gee so many memories after reading this post.
Guess I'am not the only seasoned man around here.

How about Dr. Shrinker ("Dr. Shrinker, Dr. Shrinker, he's madman with an evil mind. Dr, Shrinker, Dr. Shrinker, he's as crazy as you'll ever find..."

when Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley were on Tuesday nights.
and when Love Boat and Fantasy Island were on Saturday nights.
