Impulse/stupid buying.

Amateurs.

Last week, for no discernible reason I can fathom, other than I just suddenly decided I wanted some, I bought a set of Yamaha electronic drums + amp. I cannot play the drums, have never played drums, have never really had much of a desire to play the drums yet I now have drums. They are very cool. Unfortunately I am not. I am a dick who keeps acquiring musical instruments despite an almost Bieberesque lack of musical ability. In addition to my drums I also own two guitars and two ukuleles which I cannot play. I have previously owned an electric guitar, electric bass and an upright piano, none of which I ever learned to sodding play.

Now if you don't mind I'm off to make a few random bangy noises before I go to bed.
OMG!!!:rotflmao: I thought I was bad.

I'm a shoe pig. I have about 70 pairs. One time I bought three pairs that were on sale because I loved them, never mind that they were two sizes too small. I still bought them anyway.

I buy things without doing research. This mostly applies to video games; I'll buy them without doing research, only to find out that they're horrible.

I'm so guilty of this, especially with books and movies. I'm totally Hoarders bound.

I am usually very good about not buying on impulse, but from time to time I buy stupidly.

I have a habit of buying things for “later” which I either could buy later or I could use now. Stubbornly though I refuse to use said objects until the right time comes.

On the plus side I do save a great deal at times shopping like this.

While I am always buying things on impulse, and many of the things I buy others might consider stupid, I have very few regrets about my purchases. The only thing I do that's stupid is buying things without trying them on first. I am always returning things or sending them to Goodwill that I've only worn once because it didn't fit properly or just looked bad on me... sweaters mostly, and sometimes shirts, occasionally pants, anything that's a hassle to try on. But then, I never spend that much on individual garments (unless they're custom made), so it's not that big a deal.

And of course I've bought dozens of DVDs that very simply sucked, because someone I like is on it or because it looks kind of interesting; but then I've bought an equal amount of DVDs that surprised me with how good they were... and since again I always buy them used or deeply discounted, it evens out.

I hate spending money. I get jollies on watching my bank account build up. Most of the time I don't impulse buy.

Mind you I bought a new ipod yesterday. my old one is broken and I'd been thinking about it for a while. and a bad mood set me off :P closest I get to impulse buying.

I tend to impulse buy when I'm stressed. Usually books. I have a phobia about buying an incomplete fantasy series so when I do go book shopping I usually walk out with complete sets of fantasy series based on the cover art. I've found some pretty good authors that way though. I bought the complete catalogue of Fiona McIntosh's books doing that once, because they had 3 complete series on the shelf.

Everytime I look at my bookcases I think "crap, that's probably a house deposit sitting there you know".

I've noticed if I'm really hung over, I like some retail therapy. Expensive retail therapy.
Otherwise I'm kind of a cheapass.

When I'm bored and it isn't Sunday, I go to fashion stores, the mainstream inexpensive ones like H&M and similar. Then I see a t-shirt with a cool print here, a checkered shirt with cool colour combination there and back home, I wonder where to place them in my closet. I don't have much money, I dislike and avoid brand clothes, and rather buy three cheap t-shirts instead of an expensive one.

What about impulse porn download?

The first thing I thought of while reading this thread was a four CD set of the soundtrack to the anime film Wings of Honneamise.
<3

The track in the end, when the shuttle/spaceship thingy flies off and the others attack it, is epic

I took guitar lessons during my teenage years, despite having no talent. I just wanted to be like the cool rockstars on stage due to lack of self esteem. My stupid parents were willing to pay for it, but they - and I - never realized that my skills never evolved.

Now I produce music solely on the computer and it's fun (!) I still struggle with proper mixing, but created a few tracks that I'm satisfied with.

I "hate" very few musical artists, but I won't pay $500 even to see an artist I like. Unless maybe if it comes with a blowjob from them after the gig. :)
