Indian food..mmmmm

Nope, I can't go there.

I want real American food...Tacos, enchiladas, some Bar-b-Que

or a mess of beans and rice.. Any and all washed down with a

good vintage Cerveza like Tecate or San Miguel. (even a Coors) and tequila

shooters for dessert.

Americanos/Canadianos/Mexicanos este muy bueno or sumpin lak that podnah.

Curry. . . blech.

Curries taste great, and I don't get why people make it seem as if curry is one specific thing when it's just any dish of vegetables and/or meat cooked in spices and water. Anyway, curries are not the only thing in Indian food (and not just found in Indian food).

I think it depends on where you have it. In my experience, the spice level is different across continents by which I mean I find those serve in India super spicy whereas north american/europe ones are mild. Same thing can be said to other ethnic food as well, like Thai. Those you can get from there are super hot and some of the dishes, i couldn't even finish when I was there. North america/europe one...? so bland. :)

It depends on who makes it and what region/culture of India it's from. Not all food in India is spicy.

And I don't think the "if it's cooked in North American/Europe, it's less spicy" thing is true; most of the Indian restaurants here in the west serve Punjabi junk food and it's much spicier than the stuff I've had at home.

Indian food is the best, yess!!

I love South Indian (idli, dosa) and Indo-Caribbean (roti, channa, aloo, pumpkin) food the most. :)

I eat curry pretty much every week. Biryani and pakoras for the win!

Can't live without roti, naan, or parathas!

The sweets are so addictive. Ladoos, mithai, kurma, and sometimes jalebi.

Love mango lassi!!

And I'm vegetarian, so I love that Indian cuisine is tailor made for us.

^ I just came to this thread, and I was waiting to find a comment about mango lassi! In my opinion it's the yummiest beverage in the world - I've never found any other beverage that comes even close to it.

I LOVE INDIAN FOOD IN GENERAL! Just about anything I've tried! I can pig out on samosas without even having an entree, but the entrees are always very tempting. I really enjoy biryani made with goat, but any meat will do. Masala is great!! There's a place in Chicago whose spinach dal (soup with spinach and lentils) is to die for.

Add me to the list of those who very much enjoy naan as well. The Indian and Pakistani restaurants I go to, tend to have the variety that's fresh from their own tandoor. I eat or scoop almost everything and anything with pieces of the naan...

NoC, I assume there's good Indian places in Portland, then? I hope to get to sample some when I get out there in six or seven months LOL.

If I was required to live on one nation's cuisine for the rest of my life, chances are that I'd pick "American" but I wouldn't guarantee it. Indian or Pakistani would certainly give that choice some stiff competition.

And what's so great about Indian food is that it is generally extremely healthy. And for vegetarian fare, I think they've perfected it more than anywhere else in the world.

It's only lately that I began to appreciate Indian food. I didn't normally like the smell of spicy curry food, but after trying out a little Indian restaurant next to my work I actually began enjoying the taste and exotic-ness of Indian food.:)
