Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal S

I'm not surprised. They've had years to work on it, so they had better make it good.

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal S

So far it looks like the consensus is that it is good, but not great. 20 years to come up with an incredible story, at least as good as the original. So far I am reading that this isn't the case.

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal S

Each movie stands on its own in some way. It's a formulaic series: how could the fourth one be otherwise?

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal S

I love Indy movies because they know what they are. It's escapism. They are strong, coherent, logical and predictable. I love tjj

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal S

Indy himself apparently is the best part of this movie. All the other characters are said to be quite forgetful.

Anyway, despite my fear that Spielberg was too afraid to say "no!" to many of Lucas's cockamamie ideas, I'll be sure to go see it in a few days.

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal S

Ok, I'm thick. What is tjj?

Not think thick it was just horrible unreadable typo that even I know longer remember what it should say. I'm thinking maybe it or them?

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal S

Which is your favorite Indy flick?

Mine is the great Raiders, of course. It has…

The best story and script

The best opening sequence

The best artifact or ‘Macguffin’ as Lucas likes to call them

Best booby traps

Best female lead

Best villains

Best supporting characters

Best score

Best humor... etc., etc.

In short, it's an action / adventure masterpiece and easily one of my all time favorites.

Last Crusade. Sean Connery just enhances the film as only he can.

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal S

In ten years, if this one is successful, they will come out with a new IJ movie--------Indiana Jones.......Forgets What He Is Looking For!

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal S

Just got back.... geez, without spoiling anything... that car chase scene... wow.

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal S

"Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" opened a day earlier in Argentina, so I'm ready to tell my impressions about Indy's new adventure after an eternal nineteen years hiatus.

First recommendation: Please, don't listen to the moaning critics!!! Go to the theater near you and be prepare to fully enjoy two hours of non stop action delivered by the best director in the business: Steven Spielberg.

There are no dull moments here. It's an amazing joyride full with catchy one liners that will haunt you long after the film is over.

The story is closer to the spirit of "Raiders of the lost ark", and it's that "back to basics" approach what makes this fourth outing stronger than "The last crusade" and equally kinetic but less darker than "The temple of doom".

Another most welcome ingredient is the subtle political storyline that serves as a representation of what's going on in America nowdays.

I don't want to give away any details of the plot, so I'm just gonna say that evolves around an ancient culture based in South America and their links with the history of mankind.

Harrison Ford, Karen Allen and Shia LaBeouf have the right chemistry. I'm not sure if Shia can fit Ford's shoes in the future, but I'm willing to give him a chance.

Cate Blanchett is great as the evil nemesis, Irina Spalko, and she is responsable for some of the best scenes in the film.

Except for the design of the crystal skull, the rest is excellent conceived and executed. Even John Williams' score sounds fresh althought he sticks to the same old formula. But then, who can resist his uplifting and legendary fanfare?. It won't be me, for sure.

I'm gonna rate the film with a solid 4 out 5. And once again, and for your own good: DON'T LISTEN TO THE CRITICS!!!

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal S

I'll listen to you, Paxton. Your review has me even more excited to see the movie (probably this weekend).

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal S

I liked it, but I know what Ico7 means^ - it has a different feel. But enjoyable, and worth seeing. The humor works, the story is good.

I felt the action scenes were a little slow in pace. I know they were trying to be faithful to the original style, but movies are so much faster now than in the eighties - the action just felt a little ponderous to me at times. I don't think it would've harmed the film to cut at a slightly faster pace.

But definitely a worth-seeing-on-the-big-screen movie.

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal S

Does Shia remove his shirt at any point ?

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal S

Which is your favorite Indy flick?

INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM

It's dark, it's exotic, it's uber kinetic and it also has the best 20 opening minutes in the history of cinema.

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal S

Just went to see it...

It's better than Temple of Doom but that's about it.

The first 3/4 of the movie is great, then the ending is awful (not gonna give anything away, dont worry ;-) )

Final thought- Indiana Jones is an ARCHEOLOGIST and that's it. This movie's plot was better suited for Tom Hanks (you'll get it when you see it)

Take care, corndog22

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal S

That's a bold statement. Had I not yet seen Skull, it would have completely negated your glowing endorsement.

Are you sure you’ve seen Raiders? Or Doom for that matter?

It depends on how many times do you need to see a movie to get it right.

I've seen "Raiders" no less than fifty, and "Temple of doom" over a hundred.

Believe me: As weird as my comments may sound to you, I know what I'm talking about.

But seriously, I totally respect your thoughts. Don’t understand them , but respect them. :)

Well, that only shows your intelligence.

And the idea that this doesn't feel like an Indy flick just doesn't hold true for me. It's true that it's Indy in a different stage of his life and in a new era, but it's still all Indy.

I totally agree on that.

As I said before: "Skull" holds a lot of connections with "Raiders", so if that's not how an Indy flick should look like, then we're in trouble.

One last thing: Thanks for your challenging comments, GreenHell. I really do appreciate them.

PAX (*8*)

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal S

I saw it yesterday and liked it. The ending was kind of... cheesy, but it's still a nice addition to the Indiana Jones Saga.

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal S

I was reading the paper today, and there's this 8 page movie/game/music/book review, and the film critic was reviewing 'Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' and he gave it a bad review. I have yet to see the previous films (am i a bad person?) but i was interested to watch this one. I don't know now? :(

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal S

INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM

It's dark, it's exotic, it's uber kinetic and it also has the best 20 opening minutes in the history of cinema.

That one is my favorite too. I think Raiders is overrated frankly. I never got into that one as much as the Doom and Crusade.

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal S

Everyone is bashing the hell out of this film. They did it for the money, thus the horrible result. They should have left it alone. The film will be gone in two weeks time, working it's way down at the box office.
