I can't believe NOBODY else came up with an idea for you.
After sleeping on it, and doing a bit more quick research, here is my 2 cents. Since you don't drive, and half the fun of a trip is getting there, I'm suggesting ground travel for parts instead of being sealed up in an aluminum tube.
Monday, October 5: Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. Many tours from Vegas.
Tuesday, October 6: Catch a cheap flight (less than $100) Vegas to Denver. Southwest flies this route; you have to row, but it gets you there.
Wednesday, October 7: Rocky Mountain National Park.
Thursday, October 8: Board the California Zephyr in Denver 8AM. One way-coach fare to Emeryville, CA is $96.00. Overnight on train.

Friday, October 9: Arrive Emeryville, CA (San Francisco) around 5 PM. Party with Jubbers.
Saturday, October 10: Do San Fran. Party Sat. Night.
Sunday October 11 to Tuesday October 13: San Fran, Yosemite NP (I'm sure there are some tours to Yosemite from San Fran). Monday the 12th is a Federal holiday, so I'm sure some SF Jubbers have a 3-day weekend.
Wednesday October 14: Take the TRAIN; SF to LA. $52; a 12 hour trip down the coast.
Thursday October 15: Board plane back to Downunder. The rest of us call out the National Guard to start cleanup.![]()
I went to a travel agent today and she's going to send me some ideas aswell. I'm so excited I could pee. I found a 1 day trip to Yosemite (14 hours)
And there's Denver and a day trip to Tijauna
And there's a 2 day trip from San Fran to Carmel or somewhere
Ohh and there's a walking tour of Chinatown
Ohh and I can't forget the Urban Safari Tour with extra bonus of Alcatraz tour
and and and and and
*faints*

Too bad you can't drive
Pacific Coast Highway
No no no... you continue on the 101 from Frisco through the Redwoods to Crescent City. Then take the 199 to Grants Pass, Oregon and pick up the I-5 North from there.
