You are assuming incorrectly. Not even close, Deep connection or passing fancy is a moot point.

To the rest of the world fundamentalism is akin to extremism. I know you aren't attacking the religion, or the people. Nor are you attacking the religion. Nor do I believe you have a motive behind your statements.

Well, that's a start. Beyond that the rest is a matter of theology and I get the impression we're not going to get anywhere with that.

For such a small country (population) I think we hold our own. Peace keeping has been something we have some success at (The Balkans and elsewhere.) We have made a major contribution in Afghanistan in the worst part of the country. In terms of international food aid we have made a big difference. We did author the International Treaty on Land Mines ( Which many countries have signed) and many other treaties... Perhaps nothing earth-shattering, but we generally pull out weight.

We were one of the first countries in the world to recognise same-sex marriage. Rome and the US certainly took notice of that!

Honestly Muslims perceive Canada as a peace loving nation, as compare to US which is considered as axis of evil by more than 80% Muslims.

Honestly I believe that Americans are not aware of their destiny created by their foreign policies.
