Now you see why i would never vote for a Democrat. We have the greatest economy the world has ever known, with the highest median family income in the world (except Luxemberg) and it would be much higher if we did not have all those poor immigrants coming in to lower the median. You guys have zero understanding or appreciation for it. You still do not understand or see why Capitalism work best.
What is most scary is that our President does not like or understand our great economy either.

Benvolio-We have a decent economy. The Republicans have made sure that it wouldn't be any better, because then they would shit their pants because Democrats are good for the economy. The Republican policies are only there to make the other look bad, and reign in the most money for themselves. Our economy isn't perfect, but it looks better than other places because they're doing a bit worse.

If Socialism is so bad, (I'll 'confess' to being a Socialist as well) why on earth is Europe doing so well? We could be circling the drain and Republicans would say the economy is working just fine here.

Immigrants are the 95% of this country's existence. I'm not saying that you're not 100% Native American, you could be, but everybody else came here because we were treated like shit somewhere else. For a REALLY long time, we had the best outlook. Now, the only people that want to immigrate are the ones who don't have the means to go somewhere better. We all (sans Native Americans) came here from somewhere else.

We are a country of losers, and because of that, first generation immigrants are the ones who appreciate the US the most. They're the ones most active in looking out for themselves. They are the ones who have the biggest need to do so. I'm not implying that like tertiary-generationers are inactive, but their survival is less dependent on it. If they don't act, big whoop, little harm comes to them. Immigrants keep the trains on time. You can't just look past them. They're some of the most influential groups, along with the other minorities. The 'normalized' population wouldn't do shit if it weren't for the advocacy and strength of minorities. Some of them don't anyways, but they're beyond help.

By that reasoning, Native Americans are immigrants because their ancestors came across the Bering straight some years ago. It simply is not relevant to the present. We have 14 million unemployed and it is irrational, evil and obscene to be importing millions more.

Wow. So in spite of everything else, you might vote for him simply because he was gay? Just, wow.

No, unless he backed off the heterosexual agenda he keeps pushing, then I would consider it.

Here he goes again... immigrants aren't the fault that 14 million are unemployed. That's the fault of the rich men on wall street.

Twelve of those fourteen million wouldn't be unemployed if it hadn't been for the Bush I & Clinton drive to get everyone to go to college, which diverted hordes from technical and trade schools to college. Industry reports that three million technical and trade positions -- jobs which pay well -- are unfilled, because Americans started going to college instead of trade schools. And for every one of those three million, another three jobs would be generated in support, service, etc.

If the super wealthy really cared about the country, they'd pass the hat -- and keep passing it until they'd collected enough to send three million people to trade and technical schools to learn to fill those positions, for free. They wouldn't even notice the money they'd given away.

Yeah, that's surely comparable to what's happening now...

Helped get Bush to get elected and push through his tax cuts that everyone loves so much.

The other doomsday thing with Bush was global warming, Gore was going to either save the planet or destroy the planet depending on which side you were on.

Nader was one of Bush's best allies.

Maybe because he doesn't want to vote as a SECOND CLASS citizen?

All those "things at stake" aren't going to do you any good if you are going to be discriminated against for who you are. You may believe you're very evolved to think "beyond JUST gay" but the people you're giving your vote to are still going to look down on you and whisper behind your back that you're nothing but a dirty faggot who doesn't deserve the same rights as your straight brethren.

They'll take your vote though

That is my number one stance and I completely agree with you but to each his own.

HELL NO to the original thread question.

Some friends are under orders to come and murder me in cold blood if I ever vote for ANY Republican. (OK, if I did, I wouldn't tell anyway, haha...)

And, if Romney turned out to be gay, that would be even more reason not to vote for him, because it would add even more to the enormous amount of hypocrisy he has already shown, as he publicly wishes no true equality for us.

Yeah, I am sure Romney utilizing the Ryan budget and plunging the country into a second Great Depression will teach the Democrats (and everyone else) an awesome lesson.
The following picture is one (of many) makeshift temporary housing projects in evidence during the last depression - AKA "the happy times". They were affectionately called "Hoovervilles" after the lovely and talented Herbert Hoover whose steadfast leadership guided us through the first part of the Depression. When my late mother was a kid, she referred to him as "Hoover, Hoover, the toilet mover." She was wise beyond her years!

I believe "Romneyville' has a nice ring to it. Perhaps there will be someone there to teach us how to sell pencils or apples on the street. We might have an updated version of "Brother Can You Spare a Dime?" sung by loyal Romney supporter, Ted Nugent.

I can hardly wait!

Again, I mentioned before, it is quite hard especially to vote any congressperson that is a Republican who has signed the Norquist pledge because it has been proven that he himself is part of the Muslim Brotherhood which is trying to undermine the USA. They say justice is blind but I think the GOP needs to wake up and reassess their goals and slaughter any diatribes.

The US still has the highest median household income in the world (except Luxemburg) and in history. We did got here by free enterprise capitalism, not by socialism and welfare, but were can sure lose it that way.

If all we got here on was by free-enterprise capitalism, the first slip in the economy would've been the end of it.

Highest median household income? That's where 5% control most of the wealth ,and the rest are stuck in cubicles or the service industry. Give me a break. Also, many mixed economies rank higher then America in income. Also one needs to take into account many mixed economies like that of Norway and Germany, offer far many more services to its people. The people don't suffer from lack of healthcare.

Median income? How is that even important? It doesn't tell us anything, really -- it could mean that half of American workers are getting minimum wage, then almost half are getting that median amount, and a few at the top are sucking up most of the income.

Give us average, give us distribution.

And yes, there are mixed economies tanking higher than the U.S. in income.

What mixed economies are higher than the US in income?

That is Irrelevant. They add the total production of the country, divided by the number of people. It tells you nothing about who gets what income. Virtually all could go to a few. Median income tells you that half the people make more than the median.
If ours is lower than some it is because we have so mony non producers, welfare, unemployed, etc.

Is anyone here open to the possibility of voting for the 'opposite' party?

First of all..ANYBODY that asnwered YES to the possibility of voting for Romney is NOT a true Liberal. There's no way you can look back @ Obama's past 4yrs and say he doesnt deserve a 2nd term to further speed up the Economy.....His accomplishments in 3 1/2yrs are unmatched by ANY Administration that came before his...

Now...Will he win re-election?...Nope...
