FEAR THE LIBERAL DETENTE!
As a Texan I am deeply amused.

All I know today is that last night one of of dear friends from the US, a doctoral grad, mid 70's, white and a total grandma, attending the benefit dinner, broke down in tears talking about her trip from the US to Canada, the fears she has returning and her abject, utter despair at her daily life in California these days as a teacher (retired), mentor and citizen.
Her husband, a white, cis het teacher (retired) wouldn't even leave to re-enter the country because of the fear he has about the positions he has expressed on social media about TrumpCo.
WTF.
So, Trump intends to visit Canada for the G7 meeting.
Here’s the thing, though — Canada has strict rules about felons entering the country. And the Presidency does not protect Trump, as former President Bush was once forced to request special permission to enter Canada over a DUI from years before.
I would desperately love to see Prime Minister Carney and our legal system stand firm and block Trump’s entry unless he applies for special permission.
I desperately want to see him grit his teeth and rage over being treated like the convicted criminal that he is, and have to face the law like every other person in my country.
Please, Canadian government. Don’t let us down. Remind this fucker that we know exactly who he is, and what he’s done.

The U.S. ambassador to Canada is pushing back on Ottawa's travel advice, saying his country doesn't search phones at the border and arguing some Americans travelling to Canada are having a tough time.
"We welcome Canadians to come in and invest, to spend their hard-earned Canadian dollars at U.S. businesses," U.S. Ambassador Pete Hoekstra told The Canadian Press in an interview Friday.
