The issue is that Andreus faked his death, and then resurrected himself on this board as his brother Dimitri.

I do not doubt for one minute that BostonPirate knew
both Andreus, and Dimitri.

What ever motives Andreus had for terminating his relationship with this board, as Andreus are his business.

Andreus is an enigmatic person. There lies the enigma.


Clarifying matters adds to our wealth of knowledge.

Please allow me to put that to bed for you.

As a Moderator of JustUsBoys.com we get to see all different types of deception, lies, various manipulations, multiple user accounts, and the like.

I personally knew Dreu and he had none of those motivations, nor did his Brother Dimitri / T Mitri.

As Moderators we spend quite a bit of time sorting these things out with tools and methods that the membership can only speculate about.

I can assure you that they were two different members, and that Andreus is gone from our boards because he's no longer living.

Let's leave it at that shall we?

I do post here to change people's minds, and to perhaps have my mind changed. I'm not sure what the point would be otherwise.

And kallipolis, I'm not sure how you can level a charge of faking one's own death without acknowledging that as a charge of deception.

As a speaker of French as a second language, I've caught myself making errors in my writing even in the last day here on JUB. The quality of my French is highly variable. Sometimes I reach beyond my knowledge and it is immediately apparent to the francophone reader or listener by how I say what I say.

Other times I luck out, with a given sentence, or a given topic, and I can express even very complicated concepts either in writing or in conversation in ways which lead French interlocutors to believe I know what I'm talking about, and in fluid French too. Sometimes this has the annoying effect of shooting myself in the foot, as they drop any accommodation they might have been making for my status as a second-language speaker and I quickly get lost in some idiom or flub my reply to a subtle-but-seldom-used grammatical construction.

Beer helps tremendously though.

And as anyone who has learned a language from professors rather than from daily contact can attest, one reaches a level of proficiency where one occasionally detects errors in the native speaker's use of the language, even though one cannot suppress one's own errors consistently, and even though one is unable to pass for a native speaker in almost any circumstance.

MitriT's postings struck me as entirely consistent with the way an English learner would communicate.

I am in the habit of sticking up for second language speakers here at JUB. This forum has far too many anglo-centric, americo-centric posters who really do think the sun rises and sets in the USA. I've made the case on the latter point even in this thread. They really do feel slighted by hearing or reading anything other than midwest "general american". And non-native English speakers do catch a lot of unnecessary flak here from the small-minded. Kallipolis, I don't even disagree that the scenario you describe is in theory possible. There is a poster...poseur...posteur? at JUB who provokes animosity, confusion, derision with his (mis)use of the English language, and I initially defended him. Then I realised that his speech was not broken. It was perfectly, consistently irregular; deliberate in other words. I've called him on it publicly: that someone would deliberately choose an eccentric form of ersatz broken English is a kind of performance art I just don't care to watch.

That is not at all my impression of mitriT; indeed variable quality is one of the hallmarks of an authentic language learner, and I just don't see that scenario applying to him.

But then again Andreus was a linguist wasn't he??? He would know how to fake that convincingly, wouldn't he!!!

It is entirely possible that his mom could have had roots in two places. Indeed how can we accept Andreus as a product of Greek and Persian heritage, but deny his mother the opportunity to have Persian and Bosnian Muslim heritage. Indeed that fits into an arc of family history of moving from one country to another, from one generation to the next, that I see even in my own family.

And what do you think the ex-Yugoslavie is if not a web of enclaves? Croats here, Muslims there, Serbs over there. You can't "ethnically cleanse" a society that starts out already homogenised. You could walk from Split to Bosnian territory in about 30 or 40 km.

I mean my own mother in law doesn't even want to be buried here, where she raised her children and has lived 2/3 of her life, when she goes. Here's how it works. I can't imagine anything more natural than burying a son without a family of his own next to his mother, in the country where she wanted her final resting place.

And as for mitri's suspect defence of his brother's religion, well I did so too along side Andreus when Islam was met with undue criticism, and no one believes less in the substantive truth of that superstition than I do.

Dimitri's posts are still available for examination under Mitri T.

The construction of Dimitri's posts were deliberately configured to mislead the reader into believing that his written English was poor. There were occasions when those posts betrayed a much more articulate writer in the English language.

Dimitri often reminded his reader that his brother, Andreus was the religious person, and the Muslim. Yet there are posts from Dimitri defending religion, and Islam.

On several occasions Andreus informed us that his late mother was a Bosnian Muslim. Dimitri informs us that she was a Persian. Dimitri informs us that Andreus was buried with his mother in Split. Split is a city in Croatia. That Andreus is alleged to have died in Athens, Greece would indicate that his Greek father would have had him buried in Greece, even in a Muslim cemetary. There are many Muslim cemetaries, or Muslim sections in Greek cemetaries.

There are too many questions, and too many inconsistencies surrounding the apparent demise of Andreus. The Elvis syndrome is not a pertinent factor among those us who have discussed this matter off board.

I do not post here to win arguments, score points or convert people to my line of thinking.

Well if I'm not mistaken JUB was Created by Americans then launched Internationally......So American Jubers were discussing American politics on an American Forum before its American Creators decided to go GLOBAL...

Which one am I?

I was one of those moderators that was constantly banning Dreu.

It's true, he could wear you down.

I still have a personal file folder containing the PM exchanges that he and I shared during many of our heated debates.

Overtime we did become friends outside of CE&P, and we learned to genuinely respect each other, not as Poster/Moderator but was real people.

I've made friends here on JUB, and particularly from posters in CE&P, and I'm proud to say are now also my friends outside of JUB.

Many of whom I started out completely disagreeing with in regard to their politics.

CE&P hasn't found any strong posters to likes of General Alfie, and Andreus, who if anything gave this forum some real character, while at times being characters themselves.

That's not to say that CE&P doesn't have "characters" posting, we do.

There are some CE&P regulars who post here in CE&P, and have posted here for years who I believe still have the respect and admiration of many of us, not so much for their ideas or perspectives, but because of the level of respect that they show others in their posting styles.

There's also a "vocal minority" who want to do nothing more than to lob stinks bombs into threads, bait other members into posting responses, gang up on certain members for not towing what they perceive to be "the party line," and who consistently demonstrate that they're not interested in a true debate, or discussion of idea, but rather to press some outside talking points as if their own.

All the while truly not listening to what the other party is posting, or saying.

The CE&P thread archives go all the way back to January of 2006.

I invite any number of you to take a look at some of those threads, and the posters who created them who's names are now unfamiliar to many of you, and see why many of their posts remain to this day.

If we're going to honor those who no longer post here, then honor yourselves by honoring those who share an opposing position by at least trying to find out where they are coming from.

That's the real challenge and one that I've found personally rewarding.

You are (drumrolll) mistaken. Though JUB is now capably run by Americans (to the best of my knowledge), it is an export of the True North Strong and Free. Eh.

Try typing linkmeallover.CA into your browser and see what happens. And as I said in this thread, the problem is not Americans discussing America. The problem is Americans not discussing anything else. It is embarrassing to watch it. It shows a kind of insular immaturity that will only undermine American interests and slow your country's prospects for growth and influence. There is a whole world out there, and the USA is only about 5% of it.

95% of interesting things are happening somewhere else.

You could argue that JUB is a place for English speakers and therefor it is only natural that everybody talk about the States because the USA is the biggest English speaking country. Yup, but 2.3 billion people live in countries where English is either an official language, or a commonly understood language. That puts the American presence at 13%

So get your heads out of your...country...and look around. A lot is going on out here.

We actually had, at one time, a CE&P International subforum.

Mostly Europeans, Australians, and South Africans taking a slow train to China.

I was happy to have it to be honest.

Sadly most of those posts get pushed down to the bottom of the page before anyone even notices the topics that have been presented, and after awhile many of those who's opinions and perspectives outside of my own borders just stopped posting.

But it's not like any of the regulars around here encourage their involvement.

So instead we have to deal with a "Hot Topics" version of "politics."
