Is Elon Musk in Trouble?

Be kind, the poor dear lost something like 14 billion dollars today.

Schadenfreude.

Twitter's ad-portal traffic plunged 20.6% in June 2023 from the year before, according to data from Similarweb, which analyzes advertising portals as "an indicator of business momentum." Overall traffic on the platform has declined steadily since January, falling 5.8% as of June. Engagement on Twitter's app also fell during that same period, from roughly 88 million users to 83 million, or 5.5%.

Musk, who purchased Twitter in 2022, said in March that he believed the platform would break even or perhaps even see a positive cash flow by June of this year, the Financial Times reported.

His decision to limit views for non-subscribers will continue to drive many advertisers away.

It is a great thing for helping cure an addiction to scrolling Twitter pages, but a disaster for the companies paying for eyeballs.

600 tweets is probably less than 1/10th of what users would likely view in a day.

This looks so good on Musk. Twitter will hopefully be the undoing of him.

So Musk is actually killing the Twitter bird. I have to assume that the brand is now almost so poisoned after all the damage that he's done, that he figures that the best thing to do is to try to erase it entirely.

As the story goes though, how do Tweeters now identify...as X-ers? and is tweeting x-ercising?

If he thought that people wouldn't give him 8 bucks a month to subscribe to something they are comfortable with, wait until he sees what potential user support is after.

Of course, the damage to the brand is entirely due to his own behavior, so erasing the Twitter brand and replacing it with something else won't help. The only thing that might help, for as long as he owns the company, is to do the one thing he's constitutionally incapable of doing: making himself as inconspicuous as possible.

Looks like Elmo stold the new logo from this guy who has had it for two years.

Welp, the birb is gone from the Twit page.

I have to say (and as one who has to also think about graphic impact), the new 'x' logo is so underwhelming that I couldn't be bothered to capitalize it.

It is worse that pathetic. It has neither graphic or symbolic weight to it.

It is some man's adolescent fantasy that he was never allowed to foist on PayPal that he has obsessed over to the point of maybe exposing what an utter fuck-up he is.
