The Islamic extremists sects ("Hey Beavis, he said SECTS, heh, heh-h-heh, hehheh, heh") are no more a danger to Western civilization than the political extremist sects which want to confiscate the entire planet's wealth for themselves and completely destroy the democracy of voting and have absolute control over women (etc.), nor the Protestant-aligned factions who would cheerfully impose something remarkably similar to Sharia Law on all of us. Far worse, the "political extremist sects" and the "factions" have entirely merged into one huge and formidable political party. Guess which one?

This is all much more dangerous (at least here) because they are often headquartered in this country, exerting their power from Washington DC and state capitals, and from many pulpits and radio-TV studios often headquartered in the United States. (How much Fox policy is issued from Australia nowadays? Any?)

This is written from a United States point of view, but it doubtlessly is true in many other countries as well.

She's wearing a burka, the building is smeared in blood, her husband has locked her behind bars with the other wives, and it's a place they call "Al Bania." Al Bania. Al Qaida. Al Bania. Al Qaida. Coincidence? I think not.

I don't know how all this could be going over your head. They've already won.

If you zoom in, there's a silhouette of a man behind her, and she appears to be wearing a winter coat and sweater with buttons. I'm not seeing the same image you're painting.

An interesting documentary from the BBC about the (mostly negative) way in which Muslims are perceived by wider society, and the dangers of radicalization. Interestingly enough, I think that this should make us ask ourselves: is radical Islam proliferating because we are not allowing Muslims to blend in? And if so, how should we deal with radicalism and who should take the blame?

In my opinion, yes it is.

Sure, all religions are crap, but muslims who immigrate here are the least likely to attempt to integrate and leave their religion behind. Fortunately for them, in Canada and Québec, religion is protected on the same level as sex, race and sexual orientation. Because of the numbers (immigration vs total population), we`ll see big problems in Canada before we see them in the US.

It`s been a big issue here in Québec in the last few years, mostly because of muslims (or other religious communities) asking for special accomodations. We are also asking for it because of the 50000-55000 immigrants we take in every year, we give priority to those who can speak french, and a lot of those people are from muslim countries. Québec has a total population between 7.5 and 8 million.

Even in other parts of Canada.. in Ontario, a few years ago, muslims attempted to get the Charia recognized as an alternate system of justice. :|

It`s an opinion based on my personal experience. Everyone has an opinion, mine is that religion is crap.

If you`re referring to muslims not attempting to integrate and leaving their religions behind, well the mosques popping up all over the place and the hidjabs and burqas seen everywhere are pretty evident.
Catholic churches are deserted in Québec. Mosques are full.

To be fair, in Ontario they already recognised traditional jewish principles for settling matters of family law. Muslim immigrants only wanted the same idea for themselves.

i may be mistaken, but i get the impression that the idea of Canadian multiculturalism is much more accepted in Ontario than it is in other parts of the country. What you mentioned above doesn`t surprise me one bit.

The Sharia didn`t pass this time around, but who knows what`ll happen in the future.

Mr Buzzer has that shark as his advertisement to warn us that he's an aggressive biter. There was another guy here who was even worse— he had a picture of a biting Pitbull dog to warn us he was a pugnacious biter.

We should be thankful they show inner selves in their avatar, the Islamic religion claims to be a religion of peace but it seems a suicide bomber killed four in Peshawar yesterday.

A dozen were killed the day before Dujail, Iraq. Twenty Iraqi soldiers are kidnapped and then brutally executed by suspected al-Qaeda on Friday.

At least five are left dead after an al-Qaeda bombing and shooting attack last Thursday in Sanaa, Yemen. Thirteen the day before in Husseiniyah, Iraq and Ghulam Khan, Pakistan.

But as we've said before these killings occurred far away from OUR homes. It's been a whole years since the Boston bloodshed.
