Well of course it can't be true........can it ? why do some people hate ginger people, i love them but my late mum wouldn't let them in the house.

Why all the hate for gingers, i mean i don't know the origins of it unlike Jews being hated unfairly for killing Jesus.

Have you any ideas ?

Are you a ginger, have you faced discrimination because of it ?

Does it simply go back to the hatred of the Irish people? Or just superstitions? Weren't gingers thought to be witches?

I had ginger hair as a kid, it turned more auburn as an adult, though my beard is still red. I always had people tell me I was cute because of my hair.

There are some lovely kind people out there.

I wonder why people didn't like the Irish.

There used to be signs up here saying, No Blacks, No Irish, No Dogs.

I don't think that I ever heard anyone say they didn't like gingers. I am not fond of people having a too many freckles, but that is my personal preference. Red hair on women was sometimes considered kind of racy.

The old prejudices against gingers is not nearly as prevalent today as it was when I was a little kid.
Stories my dad's navy buddies used to tell can't be repeated here. Was it hatred or jealousy?

That's not a preference. You're freckaphobic.

I find red hair and freckles to be hot. My first serious boyfriend was a ginger and quite handsome and I wouldn't have wanted him any other way.
I never knew there was any dislike of red-haired men and women. I heard once that in southern and eastern Mediterranean countries there was a prejudice, but Britain? For chrissake Henry VIII and Elizabeth I had red hair!

It's not polite to point out that others are ginger. They can't help it. They were born that way.

Sure, they can try to dye their hair, but it is still obvious.

Anyway, they are free to marry just as gays are. We shouldn't judge them. That's for God to do.

The association of red hair with only Ireland is a bit errant. Germany also has a significantly high red-head population.

I still remember my first crush on a red-head in college, two in fact. One was strawberry blond, and definitely the pale complexion and freckles. He had a very German surname. The other was auburn haired and still freckled, but tanned. Completely opposite body types and still very attractive due to charm.

The preceding post was wholly tongue-in-cheek. I'd die a bit inside if any of my redheaded friends thought I was seriously dissing them. It's all deadpan humor in good fun.

Maybe we should coin a new term for sexy redheads as a favor to make up for the jibing?

How about the Red Hots? Or maybe the Hot heads?

Anyone?

I'm changing my avatar for a while to showcase some.

Eddie Redmayne (or is it Red-mane?) :p can be first up. The still is from a modelling shoot he did at age 22 for Rowan.

Scots were supposedly often ginger so it may just have been historic xenophobia

One of my hottest hook-ups was with a red-head with a flaming fire-crotch. yum.

Sorry guys, but as a big time lover of Gingers, that's what I call them and they like it. In fact, they usually beam proudly when I call them a ginger hottie.
I have never had any ginger take offense at it. Not even one time.
And there has been a pretty large sampling.

Tradition has it that Judas, who betrayed Christ, was ginger.

I had a couple of male cousins who were red headed and we would often pee together outdoors. I remember how exciting it was to see they had red pubes.
