  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

IS JUB over?

I'm in the same boat as Alley. I used to be on JUB twice a day for hours. Now...once or twice a week or less. JUB really needs to bring back the chat room.

Yeah, I keep forgetting there was a chat room. It would be nice to chat in "real-time" with other JUBbers. I guess there were just problems with the original chat.

I don't know about y'all, but as the internet has become more widely used and abused, I've become quite a bit more lax about the way I communicate through it.

Taking our posts too seriously (e.g. sharing personal things) is almost passe. You guys said it yourselves: you're afraid to do it! That's happening everywhere.

This trend might explain why places like JUB feel less "homey". Fact is, unless we're talking about a Usenet newsgroup or something, most social media (like JUB) has taken on a new "feel" -- don't you think? I'd say this newly developing attitude towards social communication is unlike any other society's in human history. (But what do I know -- correct me if I'm wrong?)

So... is it ebb and flow? Nah, just flow.

Think about it -- when JUB began, you were only talking with a handful of people.

Now, you're talking with the whole world. That's not going to change!

Do you communicate in exactly the same way with your best friend that you do with a stranger you've just met? Or amidst a room full of people you don't know?

It's not just JUB that's changed -- it's society!

And I think it's cool ..| There are some terrible public forums out there, y'all. JUB is still unique and substantive.

ahhh yes - the Chat -- (here we go again)- i met POCONO in the Chat Room what? almost 4 years ago. we are still in touch today -

JUB has changed, and it's not all for the better from where I sit -
Bigger is not always better (except in porn, I guess) - and McDonalds.

But I'm having difficulty getting all comfortable that the new people are as good or better than the old people. (they are different - to be sure) I want to be here, it is my outlet, but i wish to talk to people - and there are few that even want to do that these days.

The CHAT was a good interactive element -- Now with JUBSUPPORTER it would seem fairly easy to incorporate a maintenance fee into that level to support a ChatRoom.. but what do i know.

Today, I have people on Ignore and I never thought i would go there.
I am here somewhat LESS than 6 months ago, and enjoying it less. I have learned so much here -- and enjoyed like-minded people, so I am grateful, and I know that when i leave I know that hardly anybody will notice (or care).

Ebb and flow?

Flush and go?

I just don't know

I'll miss some though

but in the after glow

You can have the show

I'm about ready to go

find new fields to sow.

good-bye then, poet-guy -- you will be missed

i still log in from time to time but this place just doesn't hold my appeal like it used to.

Has anyone noticed that the veterans are saying Jub isn't what it used to be, and the newbies are saying the best days are ahead ?
When I first came here, everything was new and exciting ... the whole gay forum thingee. I certainly remember reading threads back then from some of the then veterans saying 'JUB isn't what it used to be.'
But on the other hand, looking back, I think, some things are different. There are no longer as many 'congrats' threads. There are no longer 'JUB' popularity contests and stuff like that. There is not as much flirting or banter. And there are now porn banners inside the threads.
Also, looking back, I remember when I got bored with the yo-yo craze. Then I bought a pair of stilts, and I got bored with that too, after a while. And the Simpsons no longer makes me laugh as much.

I'm going to go and sit in the bath and think about this thread a bit more .... JUB has been such a big part of my life these past 4 or 5 years.

but thru it all -- you're still

justaSEXYguy !

well, not just - you have a mind too !! (I'm pretty sure)..

Oh jingoes .... I've just turned on the taps and I've already had one thought. I still enjoy reading all the threads and what all my other Jubber buddies are up to. Goodness knows what insightful thoughts will pop up once I actually get in the bath.

Not when it's still producing hijacks and flounces like the one I saw earlier today.... :)

Whilst not actually having

a strong philosophical bent,

I do find myself at times wondering:confused:

Could it be that

JUB IS OVER

or if maybe one

IS OVER JUB.

an epic conundrum,

a postulation perhaps

or even a paradox.

As one of the newer JUB'ers, I have not seen another site that offers so much variety in forums or posts. Since coming here, I continue to see the wide diversity of interests and points of view in the LGBTQ community (assuming this site attracts a representative sample). Further, this site gives me a sense of 'tribal' belonging that is re-assuring. Lord knows there is enough hate and guilt out there - coming here is like a pair of comfortable old shoes. I don't know what JUB was like 'back when', but I for one am thankful for this site.

I don't know how it can be considered "dead" or anything near that. The site is still very active.

Did those of you who think it's changed ever consider that the reason why it might not feel the same to you anymore is because you've been posting here for 5 plus years?

I mean, nothing is going to seem as interesting and fun as when you first started using it. Especially after that long of a time.

Anyway, the most important thing is that I'm still here. That's all that really matters at the end of the day.

Oh Really? I don't think my wife of 35+ years would be happy to hear that.
