The events of the past few days look a lot like prior coups and American missteps in fomenting regime change in the past 100 years. Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya...

In 2012, 4 US citizens were killed at a State Department mission in Benghazi, Libya, two of whom were CIA operatives. After this incident, the Republicans spent 3 years and millions of dollars trying to pin the Benghazi deaths on then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

So far, 6 Americans have been killed in this little war game. Trump, Rubio and Hegseth seem to be completely unable to vocalize why the US military is involved in a conflict in the middle east. Again.

Today, Sen Ted Cruz [R-TX] called bullshit on several of the reasons that have been given by the Trump Administration for the mess that they have created, which has the potential to turn into an(other) Arab-Persian war. The question is whether the rest of Congress will take this as seriously as they did the deaths in Benghazi.
 
They didn't really care about the Americans killed in Benghazi. You never heard mention of openly gay Christopher Stevens, US Ambassador to Libya, who had a love for the Libyan people.
 
Now we know that the White House Correspondents Association ahs been flooded with influencers and flaks instead of real journalists, but this pretty much
finishes the tradition.

Of course he gets invited. As Prez he would be the guest of honour and just because he never went in the past doesn't mean that suddenly this is some big deal.

Always bear in mind that part of his job and the job of the oligrchs is to destroy so called 'broadcast' media.

They dream of a highly compartmentalized media that prevents a collective view and analysis for viewers and of course, actual journalism is anathema to these
fascists who see a future of only a couple of state responsive propaganda outlets with the death of the rest of objective reporting...because they do not believe that
objective truth or facts can exist.

Brendan Carr is now threatening networks if they don't report the war the way the Pentagon tells them to.

I don't think Ellisons care...their whole raison d'etre is to demolish broadcast news.

Pro-democracy platforms are great, but splintering the news media on the left destroys the cohesion of
solid broad based pro-democracy journalism.
