Is Legacy news media about to die a slow death?

Kirk's shooting death has helped to expose the cringy, spinelessness of another one of the once great media companies.

Steve Schmidt nails them.

^ Yes and as I pointed out in the thread specifically about Kilmeade's statement...I couldn't beleive that the faith and political leaders, let alone ALL the mainstream media and even people on-line didn't seem to react. I get that Kirk's shooting knocked everything else including a school shooting out of the headlines because it was sexier and will sell more soap, I think we all learned something really horrifying this week about FOX and the public in the US.

Another victim of the right wing frenzy to make Charlie Kirk their patron saint and for calling out the endless cycle of gun violence and thoughts and prayers in the US. Yet another nail in the lid of WaPo's nail riddled coffin.

Democracy Dies in Darkness....

ABC...another Network that capitulated because the Owners of the affiliated stations need FCC approval for a deal and the FCC Chair is the guy who wrote the FCC chapter for Project 2025. They don't get to come back from this. They betrayed their viewers and their principles.

So a bit of a last gasp from the NYT when they responded to the filing of Trump's lawsuit...now thrown out.

Seen today....Fred Gutenberg:

"What is the difference between a Russian Oligarch and Larry Ellison?

Asking for friends who believe his pursuit of all media is devastating to our freedom of speech, freedom of press, and Democracy."

This should shake up legacy broadcasters. Maybe they should be asking themselves whether they should have affiliate
broadcasters at all?

So by the time it was time to have my own Disney shares sold, he was re-instated. But I see that the real shareholders (institutional) may be ready to sue the board of Disney over Kimmel's dismissal.

And another nail in the coffin lid for CBS news as Bari Weiss...totally unqualified...takes the helm at the Tiffany Network.

Of course she can only bomb as bad as Chris Licht when he went to head CNN.

WaPo seems to be trying to stab it to death with their currrent Opinion Page....

^ This is about what I'd expect since the Post fired Karen Attiah, 10-year employer and head of their World Opinion section. She was also set to give a class at Columbia University that has been cancelled.
Karen has rebounded pretty well. She gave a successful class online this summer and is repeating it and offering an advanced class this fall. She's on Substack and reaching new readers and making connections.

More bizarre changes at CBS after the Sundance sale. Sundance's CEO is Larry Ellison's son. CBS News has a President, however Weiss will report directly to Ellison. The knives are being sharpened and the gift shop is probably already selling Bari Weiss voodoo dolls. I give her 6 months before she's gone.

Anti-woke former New York Times opinion editor Bari Weiss has been confirmed as the new editor-in-chief of CBS News.

Weiss, 41, will also run a new debate program covering thorny topics including immigration and the ethics of editing embryo genes, per the Wall Street Journal...

'As of today, I am editor-in-chief of CBS News, working with new colleagues on the programs that have impacted American culture for generations—shows like 60 Minutes and Sunday Morning — and shaping how millions of Americans read, listen, watch, and, most importantly, understand the news in the 21st century,' she said....

Weiss will report directly to Skydance Paramount CEO David Ellison, whose company Skydance recently merged with CBS' owners at Paramount. Tom Cibrowski will remain CBS News' president but Weiss will not have to report to him.

As I noted above, I expect she will flame out like Chris Licht did at CNN.

Ellisons will preside over CBS becoming just another Newsmax.

Well one tiny little last gasp...George Stephanopolous cut off JD Vance feed mid-sentence as the Veep kept spewing lies.

To be honest though, the Sunday shows have beengarbage for years most of the time.
Just an opportunity for Admin flacks to lie and to answer softball questions by increasingly disengaged talking heads.
So what Stephanopolous did was so extraordinary in these times as to garner notice...when they should have been doing it all along.
