This article should show how the Christians will not elect Romney. Romney is a seventh-generation direct descendant of one of the faith’s founding 12 apostles. Although they don't say which apostle. This White Horse Prophecy is what should make the US a Theocracy. The last para is by Moody, a friend at BYU who also was a 7th generaion descendant.

But at 19 years of age, the youngest son of the most prominent Mormon in American politics — a seventh-generation direct descendant of one of the faith’s founding 12 apostles—Mitt Romney had been singled out as a destined leader.

--snip--

Romney avoids mentioning it, but (Joseph Smith Jr) Smith ran for president in 1844 as an independent commander in chief of an “army of God” advocating the overthrow of the U.S. government in favor of a Mormon-ruled theocracy. Challenging Democrat James Polk and Whig Henry Clay, Smith prophesied that if the U.S. Congress did not accede to his demands that “they shall be broken up as a government and God shall damn them.” Smith viewed capturing the presidency as part of the mission of the church. He had predicted the emergence of “the one Mighty and Strong” — a leader who would “set in order the house of God” — and became the first of many prominent Mormon men to claim the mantle.

Smith’s insertion of religion into politics and his call for a “theodemocracy where God and people hold the power to conduct the affairs of men in righteous matters” created a sensation and drew hostility from the outside world. But his candidacy was cut short when he was shot to death by an anti-Mormon vigilante mob. Out of Smith’s national political ambitions grew what would become known in Mormon circles as the “White Horse Prophecy” — a belief ingrained in Mormon culture and passed down through generations by church leaders that the day would come when the U.S. Constitution would “hang like a thread as fine as a silk fiber” and the Mormon priesthood would save it.

“We were taught that America is the Promised Land,” he (Moody) said in an interview.”The Mormons are the Chosen People. And the time is now for a Mormon leader to usher in the second coming of Christ and install the political Kingdom of God in Washington, D.C.”

I bet they didn't predict that they had to go to what was then Mexican territory to escape persecution or how fast the US have gone westward.

The Catholics would whup the Mormons ass big time if they tried it.

And except for the Supreme Court of the US, if the Catholic church has been unable to implement a theocracy, then no one can.

Fortunately, the me first, greedy, material riches obsessed, adulterous, proud, lustful and unrepentant heart and soul of America prevents a theocracy from taking hold. Only grim, medieval, tribal, male dominated societies can establish theocracies, and even these are doomed to fail within a few generations.

I haven't heard much of anything about Mormons. A friend in the Navy was Mormon and I only remember unable to drink coffee or alcohol.
I thought the White Horse Prophecy strange and wondered if Mitt has or had any intention of theology here.
Agreed the Catholics would have if ever there was a chance.
Just putting something in.

the "first 9/11"? at least you're not sensationalizing an incident that occurred in the wild west during a time of extreme tensions, religious persecution, and war hysteria ;)

The US government massacred millions of Native Americans, so what's the big deal with the Mormons massacring and robbing some European Americans. The soil of this country has been drenched by the spilling of innocent blood.

Well, with me being part Blackfeet and Lipan Apache I can add my 2 cents into it.

White Eagle have you been drinking some of Ambrocious' Kool Aid? Because this just isn't true. And plenty of Christians will vote for him, because they're not stupid enough to believe this garbage.

Are you crazy? Christians will believe anything. If they heard of this coming out in this election year, they will rush to the polls for Obama.

Mormonism is Christianity. They accept that Jesus Christ is the savior and the son of God. They are a bit confused in that they believe Eden is in western Missouri. And Joseph Smith heard the word of God from a stone in the bottom of a white stove pipe hat.

Mormonism is about as bat shit crazy as most other organized religions.

No it isn't.

The Mormon "God the Father" isn't the Creator of all; he's just a human who made good and got a planet to play with. The Mormon "Jesus Christ" wasn't born of a virgin, he was born of a woman who got drugged and Adam, who is really "God the Father", came down and had sex with her.

They use the words, but it's like pulling some Bedouin out of the desert and naming him "George W. Bush". When they say "Savior", they don't mean someone who did all the work necessary to pull you out of a doomed path, they mean someone who did a lot but wasn't capable of handling the hard parts -- people have to do those themselves.

And the official teaching of the Mormon Church is that all the Creeds and Confessions held by Christians are utterly false. That means they don't believe in "God the Father, Maker of Heaven and Earth" or in "Jesus Christ, his only Son", and so on.

wouldn't "tit for tat" be saying "I said the birthers were retarded, so I won't pull that same stupidity on anyone else"? ;)

it's a remarkable success story that they went from living in a Mexican colony to being worth 250 million dollars in 2 generations.

Are you calling half of all republicans "retarded"? I'd say more than half are. Way more.

If you equate success with having a lot of money hidden away overseas, being a corporate raider who shut down companies, fired thousands and ran with the cash then I guess he is.
