And btw, I just called my congressman, Mr. Earl Blumenauer, whose phone box is full and not accepting new messages.

Yep, and it is not just paying extra, which is ridiculous. It is also the speed. Large sites like Amazon will make sure that they get the fastest speeds. I doubt that smaller sites will not be able to afford to do that.

Thanks for posting this. Wrote to my senators and representative.

This is super fucking important and I really hope the general public don’t sleep on this. People need to stop being complacent.

^Hey, there's like 5 of us here who care!

there are also some of us who quietly work in the background on this, and other current political issues :)

Oh, I'm just makin' noise since it's groundswell time. I wanna see some other bitches up in this thread, though.

Do you want to hear me rant about all the people who spent all their time trashing Hillary? ...or who convinced people that both were alike so they stayed home or voted third party?

I knew this was coming...my rage happened back then..now I get to watch unfold what I knew was gonna unfold...but if it makes you feel any better...it will get much worse than this!

But yeah..Hillary is a bitch...she gave a speech to Wall Street and then there were the dreaded emails....

...and now we have Trump....

I have to select my outrage...there are just SO MANY THINGS to be outraged about..daily....so I am sticking with the elephants...and giving away our national parks to oil companies so they can drill....

...but for the record..I sent my emails about net neutrality...I am one of "those guys" who interact regularly with my government reps...

My fear is that it will leak back into Canada again.

We turfed Bell as our ISP because they were effectively doing the same thing as will happen in the US. Slowing down the speeds and then charging premiums for speed and usage.

One of the disgusting aspects of that is we already have to pay extra for service that is worse than what much of Europe had a decade ago.

Amplifying that is that major ISPs in the U.S. offer gigabyte service at an obnoxious price but then try to hype you to use their home wi-fi gear which won't even give you the speed you're paying for!

I know.

I can't imagine anyone in their right mind wanting this. So these people really need to speak up. I'm not assuming that Jubbers aren't doing their part. And I hope people ignore party politics here, because it doesn't matter because if this gets through we're all fucked.

I fear the possibility that JUB will not be available because of who we are. What "they" allow may not include us.

You fear correctly. It won't just be JUB it will be the vast majority of porn websites. All they have to power to block. If the isp blocks they may offer a very limited adult section such as a lot of broadband/fiber/ cable offers now. But the cost will be very high and again the selection will very limited. In the USA you will have a controlled internet where the provider tells you what sites you can view and which sites you can't.

First off this will halt the cord cutting. It will end people using torrents, KODI TV and any pirate sites offering patented content.
This is a extremely dangerous time with consolidation the FCC has recently approved for TV, newspaper, and radio ownership rules.
