Is Net Neutrality Coming To An End in the USA? Find out December 14th, 2017

Fort Collins city council voted last night to move ahead with municipal broadband, net-neutral with bonus privacy protections.

DIY. Hope this spreads.

That reminds me of an article I read back in like June, saying that if the TPP was established corporations would be able to sue cities, counties, and states that set up the own networks and force them to pay what the corporations claimed as "lost profits" because of the competition.

There will be all sorts of stupid attacks on the progress of the people to set up their own networks.

I say ignore them.

The point here is that we ought to be able to set up our own internet free from corporate interests.

Go, Fort Collins.

Go, Fort Collins.

I made a slight improvement.

Update:

"Senate Democrats announced today that they have reached 40 co-sponsors for a bill that would effectively nullify the FCC’s devastating vote to kill Net Neutrality just a few weeks ago. "

read here.

Call your senators if they're not solid on this!

The repeal of Net Neutrality is a hot topic in America, but it can be very difficult to understand. That’s why the BURGER KING® brand created WHOPPER® Neutrality, a social experiment that explains the effects of the repeal of Net Neutrality by putting it in terms anyone can understand: A WHOPPER® sandwich.

^ It sounded like they stopped the people on the way out the door and explained it all and made things right with them. Who would think a Whopper could teach a lesson like that?

I've started contacting some members here who I want to maintain contact with, outside of JUB. Very possibly, too many of those who would choose to become bandwidth predators or censors are likely to have less than noble intentions toward gay pornography sites. If this website disappears, it may not be possible to find a person one chooses to maintain contact with.

That was pretty good. It brought the point home pretty clearly. Good Job, bad law, again catering to money. What else is new with Trump

It's official.

I'm happy to be in a state with legislation that replaces Mr. Pai's crappy work.

Those Bastards! :grrr:

A spokeswoman for the FCC previously directed CNN to a section of the final order for net neutrality, in which the FCC asserts authority to prevent states from pursuing laws inconsistent with the net neutrality repeal.

"It's patently illegal for the states to make their own internet policy," Roslyn Layton, a visiting scholar at the American Enterprise Institute who served on Trump's transition team for the FCC, said last month.
