Is Obama Burnt Out?

Jack, see what happens when you bring up a simple little thing that wasn't bashing Obama but just stating what you noticed about his exuberance? You get attacked by little bedwetters who are used to having their sad little asses kissed. Don't waste your time explaining yourself to these children. They're honestly not worth it. They expect gay men to all think alike about every political issue. And apparently they expect you to be quiet unless they give you permission to do otherwise. Thank you Jack for not putting your political party, whatever it may be,before America. These people who attack other gay men for not being followers are the true"self loathers" after all. Keep your chin up and don't worry about them. I bet when you started this thread they got a "deer in the headlights" look if you catch my drift.

So is this what it is like when the paid GOP ops create a convo between themselves?

I'm glad we're not worth your notice. But I notice that you can't seem to help but take notice as this avatar when the heat starts to get turned up.

"Heat turned up", OMG rareboy, you'll send them on a mindblowing tirade that global warming and climate change isn't real, and is the tool of Satan (aka... Al Gore) himself.

What is most interesting about this thread is not whether or not Obama seems to have lost interest but rather that people on both ends of the political spectrum hurl the same insults at each other. Replace the name Obama with Bush and vice versa and you have the other side's argument. Politically speaking, Democrats are a sitting target this year but Obama is likely to retain the presidency in 2012 due to the disarray that the Republican party currently finds itself in. There is no single talking head that has risen above the pack and so it is unlikely that Obama will not win reelection. A very strong voice that is willing to challenge Obama on his policies will have to arise extremely quickly out of the quagmire that currently presents itself on the right. On the left, if the Democrats are to hold the presidency after Obama and have a chance to regain the congressional majority in 2012, Democrats will have to differentiate themselves and offer real solutions. It is not unimaginable that Democrats will once again find themselves in full control of Washington after 2012 but for this to happen, they must more valiantly defend their policies. Republicans must show that these same policies are fallacy and offer a good alternative. As Bill Clinton famously said, "It's the economy stupid," however for Republicans, this will be a double edged sword.

Implying that those who disagree with you are children and have a "deer in the headlights" look to them ?

What a bedwetting, wanting your sad little ass kissed thing to say...

I would never want everybody to agree with me, And furthermore if someone does disagree i act like an adult not a child. What i want for the gay community is a group of adults who can disagree without having their diapers changed. The gay community shouldn't be of one mindset but a group of individuals with individual ideas. If you want to keep acting like babies then by all means.keep getting in that fetal position when your asses aren't kissed. I could care less but it only makes you look bad and hurts nobody else. You my friend need to grow up.

rare, first of all-i'm not paid by anybody and second i'm not a Republican. i'm registered as non partisan. You Neither i nor Jack bashed Obama. the guy simply made a nonpartisan observation and you guys acted like the sheep that you seem to be. I think you for your post. You're solidifying the fact that i didn't misjudge the immaturity i witnessed. You seem to think that no gay man could possibly stray from the sad little world some of you have set up for yourselves. One where MSNBC is savior and Fox the anti-Christ. In reality both are way to biased to remain objective. Get used to the fact that gay men are not all sheep. Wouldn't it be nice in your little utopian world if we were ? As i stated earlier,it's gay men like you are the true self loathers -have some respect for the gay community.Have some respect for yourself.

I think "sheep" isn't the metaphor you want; it implies they bleat and go along, or run away. "Longhorns" might work, or "wildebeast" -- those stampede when spooked -- and not always away from the commotion.

But how does Obama make anyone "scared and doomed"? I guess I just don't "get" where you're coming from. *shrug*

I didn't say Obama does; the whole situation makes a lot of people feel that way. I hear people muttering we'll never get rid of the debt because Congress is only interested in themselves, that the roads are just going to keep getting worse except the ones Congresscritters use, that we're going to have 10% employment forever, that the troops are going to come home from Iraq and we'll get hit by terrorists at home -- or that the troops will never come home, they'll just get labeled "advisors".... There are a lot of people who don't see any way the future will be any better, and that can be a self-fulfilling prophesy. And if Obama had a bit of the Reagan confidence and optimism and made it felt, it would be a serious positive force.

I'll grant he's better on it than McCain would have been; to me that disrespecter of the Bill of Rights comes across as a cheap used-car salesman I wouldn't trust to get a repaint job right.

^ So.... In short,

Obama is too intelligent, too "professorial" for America to get behind him. Too serious to inspire any sort of groundswell of excitement or optimism.

We need a more demonstrative leader, someone more "Hollywood" like Reagan was... After all, in our culture substance takes a back seat to looking good on television.

Or, perhaps even something more lewd and gossip-like would capture the American interest.... Something like the Clinton years.

I know ! If we can find someone to blow Obama under the desk in the Oval Office, that would surely ignite the electorate. Scandal and corruption, something we can all get excited about. Maybe we can get Michelle to have an affair with that "Situation" fellow...

Listen closely: Hear that ? That's the sound of Nero fiddling.

maybe we need a dummy with a fake cowboy swagger to.....

oh

that didn't work either.

Well maybe we need a wonk who spends his time in the.... Oh .... they hated Bill Clinton Too....

Hmmm

Looks like there really isn't anyone to make america better overnight. Maybe we ought to stop thinking of the president as the tooth fairy and educate ourselves. Maybe the fixes america needs aren't going to come as fast as a Big Mac at the drive through.

WHAT!!!!

clutch pearls!!!

Americans be patient and patriotic? HA... fat chance.

OH brother.

Not a sore loser at all -- I swallowed hard when I put my mark on the ballot for McCain in 2008. I'm wasn't a fan then and not one now.

This thread is about Obama's lack of excitement and and purpose during his press conference last Friday.

I'm not sure whether you watched it or hear it. I hope you did since you're making comments -- reading blog comments doesn't count --- that you did. But you should at least have an open mind about a person in politics -- no matter who they are.

If it makes you happy, I really didn't care to listen to Reagan myself -- but he had way to get people excited. In my observation as President he just doesn't do it. My take is that he had it in the campaign -- that's why we see him looking like he's campaigning so much. He's President now -- he has to lead.

I know I'd made negative comments about Obama before. Thanks for pointing those out to me and others. I'm not a fan, but he is still my President.

Just because it feels good making the hypocritical right eat humble pie and someone referenced Springers magnum opus on this subject, once again....

Here's Bushy................bowing

Yeah Jack, I watched it last Friday.

That still doesn't change the fact that you were making derogatory comments at the President two weeks after he was elected. In one of the links your title of the thread was "This is what a wimp looks like", and stated a "President DOES NOT BOW", but when photos of Bush and others bowing were presented to you we heard nothing. I'm not going to go through the forum and list more links of Obama bashing threads and posts you made, but you know darn well they are there.

If you're that petty to point out a speakers appearance instead of the substance of what was said, you're only proving my point. You simply are rooting for the Republican team, aren't happy Obama was elected and never gave him a chance to begin with...... my original comment.

Perhaps the President should ask for your opinion before he does anything, but I'm sure if he did everything you said you would still find fault.

Reagan? I was repulsed by most every speech he gave. Heavily scripted and with his acting ability it's no wonder why he was called "The great communicator" because he was acting the roll of a President.

You say you want President Obama to lead........ if he does will you follow? I doubt it.

FOX would be impressed by your ability to spin -- right into something that has nothing to do with the subject, except to be derogatory and negative.

Actually, it was 2 weeks after Obama's swearing in that he started his first anti-Obama thread. He was making negative Obama comments just hours after Obama was elected.

What's hilarious, is so many of the wingnuts, that have now vaporized, (I'm looking at your "BearDaddy") were starting threads and posting that Obama was breaking his promises weeks and months before Obama was even sworn in! LOL! It was hilarious for me to pop in and see the nonsense they were spewing. They must have followed the jaded, bitter, Hillary supporters (I'm looking at you "NickCole") that were absolutely insane in their whining and bitching that Obama won.

Fortunately, the Progressives, Liberals, and Democrats have rallied here at JUB and decided they were sick of the bullshit the wingnut crowd were spewing and stood up for itself, and for Obama. Look, Obama isn't perfect, and I wish to god he'd fight more for his base. But he's so much better than the alternative.

If you read up on Reagan you'll find that he drove his handlers bonkers because he wouldn't stick with the script, tossed out whole sections of speeches on the spur of the moment and threw in something impromptu, or nodded as they made changes to the text -- and totally ignored it when he actually started talking. They nearly despaired of him using a teleprompter, because as a good speaker will do, his eyes roamed the audience making connections with people.

He made a number of inspiring statements, too -- in fact a survey of presidential scholars last year for memorable or powerful quotes from presidents had more from him that any other (and rated him one of the best speakers we've ever had in the Oval Office). How anyone cannot recall, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" and not be proud of him is beyond my imagination, and when he spoke of the START talks -- and departed from his script -- I don't see how anyone at all could NOT be inspired by him taking the step to not just keep piling up nuclear weapons and negotiate to make sure both sides could blow up the world the same number of times, but to publicly state we had more than enough any needed to start throwing them away.

He departed from choreographic scripts frequently, often in ways that would have made him look like a geriatric case, but the wonders of photo editing always showed him in the right place. But many of his best lines came when he spoke on his own and disregarded his speech writers.

Regarding legislation, he proposed all sorts of idiotic things that actually got in, like taxing college scholarships and letting the IRS designate all sorts of unlikely things as income. He trampled on states' rights right and left, and so frequently I can't believe that Tea Party folks hold him as a hero.

Anyway, the only way I can see anyone not finding anything good in his speeches is pure partisan blindness.

Well, now...

That was below the belt, Kulindahr.

And here I thought we were making some progress...
