Well the year 2000 panic wasn't about the world ending, it was just about fears that computers and computer operated technology would crash (which some were saying would have caused missiles in different countries to go off) because the clocks on computers weren't programmed to go into the 2000s, as some believed. But after 11:59 PM, December 31 1999, all clocks just ticked right into 12:00 AM, January 1, 2000, so all was good, lol.

If I had a history text book, I would look that up right now to see if that's true, because I thought from reading elsewhere at one time that Mayans did know and predicted their falling at the time. Do you have a credible source I can look at that shows that Mayans were unaware of their omen?

I was being facetious. The point I was making was that, if they were smart and DID predict it, why didn't they do anything to prevent it? If you talk to the current day Maya, most of them lend very little weight to any of this 2012 nonsense. I don't think anything will happen, personally. I have too much other stuff going on in my life to worry about whether or not some cataclysmic event will happen in December 3 years from now. I'm sure this whole thing will come and pass just like Y2K.

My friend's crazy mother was talking to me about all her weird theories on 2012 yesterday. I didn't have the heart to tell her that most of it sounds insane and most likely nothing will happen.

In all honesty, why should I worry about an event several years from now that I have no control over. I could be long dead by that time. Also, if I'm going to spend between now and 12/12/2012 worrying about all the "what if''s" then I might as well be dead.
