Is there a song that can make you cry?

The dancer slows her frantic pace
In pain and desperation
Her aching limbs and downcast face
Aglow with perspiration

Stiff as wire, her lungs on fire
With just the briefest pause
The flooding through her memory
The echoes of old applause

She limps across the floor
And closes her bedroom door...

The writer stare with glassy eyes
Defies the empty page
His beard is white, his face is lined

And streaked with tears of rage

Thirty years ago, how the words would flow
With passion and precision
But now his mind is dark and dulled

EVERY SINGLE TIME I HEAR IT. Annie Lennox - Into the West.

I had to have Bacall (cat I'd had for 14 years) put to sleep and my friends tried to cheer me up by taking me to see The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. It was working fine until that song came on. It made me weep.

But I love the song. I listen to it often even tho it makes me cry.

crying is a wonderful catharsis: the tears can be a little embarrassing at times hehe but at the end of the day they relieve tension and anxiety. Annie is treasure/I love her work. Thanks doubleH...I'd love to hear some more of your choices so keep your ears alert(*8*) k?

I don't wanna spend my life jaded,
waiting, to wake up one day and find
that I let all these years go by wasted

From director Agnès Varda's Cléo de 5 à 7 (1962)

Music by Michel Legrand, words by Agnès Varda

English translation:

Legrand: 'Cléopâtre, I worship you…'

Marchand <sings>: 'With all doors open wide/With the wind rushing through/I'm like an empty house/Without you without you…/Like a deserted isle/Invaded by seas/My sands slip away/Without you, without you…/With beauty unseen/Exposed to cruel winter/My soul cannot dream/Without you, without you…/Gnawed away by despair/My body decays/In an open bier/Without you, without you…/If you wait too long/I'll have been laid to rest/Ashen, pale and alone/Without you, without you/Without you'

5 songs that make me cry no matter what are all by the same artist Leona Lewis

1. Homeless, the live version from her tour DVD puts me unto pieces Everytime.
2. Run - Leona's cover of this snow patrol song I can't even play around others. I tear up so quickly.
3. Broken - Leona's power ballad from her second album. Effortless and emotional.
4. My Hands - this song was played at the end if FFXIII and it was a perfect match for the ending which made me cry.

And 5 is a tie between footprints in the sand from her first album spirit and I Know Who I Am from the for cores girls soundtrack.

welcome to our nightmare, Jitrel, I hope you'll share with us many more times

Hey Gustav, thanks. And it's nice to know others feel the same way as I do. I just think when there's passion and emotion and the song actually has meaning it's so easy to get caught up in it. And that makes for great music.

^_^ Someday – maybe – we'll look back on all this and laugh, but until then, I guess, we'll always have Paris…

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tew1r_OVzls&fmt=18"]Et pourtant Charles Aznavour[/ame]

'Un beau matin, je sais que je m'éveillerai/Différemment de tous les autres jours/Et mon cœur délivré enfin de notre amour…/Et pourtant, et pourtant…/Sans un remords, sans un regret, je partirai/Droit devant moi, sans espoir de retour/Loin des yeux, loin du cœur, j'oublierai pour toujours…/Et ton cœur et tes bras/Et ta voix…/Mon amour…

'Et pourtant, pourtant, je n'aime que toi/Et pourtant, pourtant, je n'aime que toi/Et pourtant, pourtant, je n'aime que toi/Et pourtant…

'J'arracherai sans une larme, sans un cri/Les liens secrets qui déchirent ma peau/Me libérant de toi pour trouver le repos/Et pourtant, et pourtant…/Je marcherai vers d'autres cieux, d'autres pays/En oubliant ta cruelle froideur/Les mains pleines d'amour, j'offrirai au bonheur/Et les jours et les nuits/Et la vie/De mon cœur…

'Et pourtant, pourtant, je n'aime que toi/Et pourtant, pourtant, je n'aime que toi/Et pourtant, pourtant, je n'aime que toi/Et pourtant…

'Il faudra, bien que je retrouve ma raison/Mon insouciance et mes élans de joie/Que je parte à jamais/Pour échapper à toi/Dans d'autres bras quand j'oublierai jusqu'à ton nom/Quand je pourrai repenser l'avenir/Tu deviendras pour moi qu'un lointain souvenir/Quand mon mal et ma peur…/Et mes pleurs…/Vont finir…

'Et pourtant, pourtant, je n'aime que toi/Et pourtant, pourtant, je n'aime que toi/Pourtant, pourtant, je n'aime que toi/Pourtant, pourtant, je n'aime que toi…'

'Auf englisch, bitte…' Ja wohl, mein Herr!

'One fine morning, I know that I awoke/Feeling different from all other days/And my heart finally emancipated our love…/And yet, and yet…/Without remorse, without regret, I turn my back on/What is right in front of me, without hope of return/Far from my eyes, far from my heart, I put out of my mind forever…/And your heart and your arms/And your voice…/My love…

'And yet, yet, I love only you/And yet, yet, I love only you/And yet, yet, I love only you/And yet…

'I pluck without a tear, without a cry/The secret chains that tear into my skin/Freeing myself from you to find rest/And yet, and yet…/I walk to other places, other countries/Where I forget your cruel coldness…/Hands full of love, I will offer to happiness/And the days and the nights/And life…/And of my heart…

'And yet, yet, I love only you/And yet, yet, I love only you/And yet, yet, I love only you/And yet…

'It will, though I recover my reason/My recklessness, and my bursts of joy/That I use to escape from you forever/Into another's arms, where I can forget your name/Until I can rethink the future/You will become a distant memory for me/When my pain and my fear…/And my tears…/Will eventually…

'And yet, yet, I love only you/And yet, yet, I love only you/Yet, yet, I love only you/Yet, yet, I love only you…'
